Campgrounds and RV parks near Mukwonago, WI

Mukwonago sits in Waukesha County in southeastern Wisconsin, roughly 25 miles southwest of Milwaukee and within easy reach of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The village offers access to lake country and glacial terrain while remaining a short drive from the greater Milwaukee metro area and the Illinois state line. Campgrounds within a reasonable drive range from small private parks to Wisconsin State Park System properties. Private options near the village include Country View Campground and Circle K Campground, while Coachmans Terrace Park sits closer to the Lake Geneva area. State-run sites include Richard Bong State Recreation Area to the south near Kansasville and Big Foot Beach State Park on the shore of Geneva Lake. The mix of private and public campgrounds gives RV travelers flexibility: full-hookup sites at private parks, or electric and non-electric loops at state parks with lake access, hiking, and swimming. Most campers base themselves at a single park and take day trips to nearby lakes, trails, and small-town Main Streets.

Wisconsin State Park campgrounds use a single centralized reservation system. Camping reservations are required for all standard sites and can be made up to 11 months in advance of the planned arrival date, either online at wisconsin.goingtocamp.com or by calling 1-888-947-2757. Same-day reservations are also available, and there are no walk-up or first-come, first-served standard sites at state parks, forests, or recreation areas. A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission pass is required on all motor vehicles stopping at state parks, forests, recreation areas, and campgrounds, in addition to the site fee. Passes can be purchased at the property or in advance. Private campgrounds such as Country View Campground, Circle K Campground, and Coachmans Terrace Park book directly through the operator, usually by phone or through the campground website, and often require a deposit for holiday weekends.
