Campgrounds and RV parks near Oconomowoc Lake, WI

Oconomowoc Lake sits in the Kettle Moraine region of southeastern Wisconsin, roughly 30 miles west of Milwaukee and about 60 miles east of Madison. The area is defined by glacial lakes, wooded moraines, and a dense network of small rivers, giving RV travelers a mix of private lake resorts and public forest campgrounds within a short drive. Private options nearby include Bark River Campground and Resort, a family-oriented campground with a swimming pool, canoeing and fishing on the Bark River, and on-site amenities for short and extended stays. Circle K Campground and Country View Campground sit further west toward Palmyra and Jefferson County, while Timber Trail Campground and The Playful Goose Campground of the Horicon Marsh extend the range north toward the wetlands. The Playful Goose Campground of the Horicon Marsh puts RVers next to Horicon Marsh, one of the largest freshwater cattail marshes in the United States and a major stop on the Mississippi Flyway.

Public campgrounds in the Kettle Moraine State Forest and other Wisconsin State Park System properties are reserved through GoingToCamp, the state's official reservation portal, and sites can be booked up to 11 months before the start date of the stay, with availability released at 9 a.m. Central Time. A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission pass is required for every motor vehicle entering a property, in addition to the site fee. Private parks such as Bark River Campground and Resort, Circle K Campground, Country View Campground, Timber Trail Campground, and The Playful Goose Campground of the Horicon Marsh take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Deposits and minimum-stay rules on summer weekends are common. For big-rig travelers, confirm site length, pull-through availability, and low-hanging tree clearance before booking, especially at older wooded parks.
