Campgrounds and RV parks near Saukville, WI

Saukville sits in Ozaukee County along the Milwaukee River, about 25 miles north of Milwaukee and a short drive west of Lake Michigan. The area is a practical base for RV travelers who want Lake Michigan beaches, Kettle Moraine terrain, and small-town amenities without leaving southeast Wisconsin. The closest public campground is Harrington Beach State Park in nearby Belgium, a 715-acre park with more than a mile of Lake Michigan shoreline, a former limestone quarry lake, and a cedar swamp. Private options within a short drive include Lazy Days Campground, Lake Lenwood Beach and Campground near West Bend, Hager's Hilly Haven Campground, and Timber Trail Campground. Campground styles range from full-hookup private parks with beaches and boat rentals to a state-park campground with a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Most parks in the area operate on a warm-weather season, so trip planning should account for a May to October window at public sites and slightly wider shoulders at some private parks.

Wisconsin state park sites, including Harrington Beach State Park, are reserved through the Wisconsin DNR online reservation system or by phone at 1-888-947-2757. Reservations open up to 11 months in advance, and popular summer weekends are typically claimed the day the window opens. A vehicle admission sticker is required in addition to the campsite fee, and a two-night minimum applies to most advance reservations between mid-May and October. Private campgrounds such as Lazy Days Campground, Lake Lenwood Beach and Campground, Hager's Hilly Haven Campground, and Timber Trail Campground book directly through their own offices or websites. Many private parks in this area sell out weekends to seasonal campers, so calling ahead is recommended, especially for full-hookup sites that fit larger RVs. Cancellations happen often at the state park, so travelers without a reservation should check availability regularly in the weeks leading up to a trip.
