Ruby -- Winnebago Solis 59P Class B

Sleeps 3 • Class B

Ames, IA (28 miles away)

Begin your next adventure with Ruby! Ruby is a 2022 Winnebago Solis 59P that comfortably sleeps 2-3 adults. The rig boasts a queen sized sofa bed in the back and an optional Luno Front Cab Air Mattress. Ruby is a smaller RV (19'9" long, 9' tall) making her easy to drive and park just about anywhere, but large enough for a comfortable road trip or camping experience. She has 6 seat belts, making her a GREAT road trip vehicle! Ruby includes a bathroom with 5 gallon cassette toilet (which is super easy to empty). There is an indoor shower, along with two outdoor warm/cold water hook-ups for cleaning up kids or pets outdoors, or taking a warm outdoor shower out back. She also includes a small galley kitchen complete with 2 burner gas stove, sink, slide out counter space, ample storage and a small refrigerator. Ruby differs from most Solis 59P models in that she has an ice-cold AC unit to cool the cabin. Ruby does NOT have a built-in generator, so you must be plugged into a power source for the AC to function. She also has cab AC, for cooling the vehicle while the engine is running. The 20 gallon fresh-water tank (with Eco Hot heating system), 25 lb propane tank, Truma Eco Heating System, 2 house batteries, and solar panel system make Ruby ideal for boondocking. There is storage space in the indoor cabinets, as well as under the sofa bed in the back. Ruby really is the perfect vehicle for going off-grid. If campgrounds are more your style, utilize the 30-amp plug-in capabilities. Whatever your adventure -- Ruby is the perfect vehicle to take you there. We know that setup and cleanup for a camping trip can be stressful. That’s why Ruby comes with the Stress-Less package (Prep Fee). Relax and enjoy the adventure! Ruby will have full gas and fresh-water tanks, as well as empty waste tanks upon pick-up. She will be stocked with linens (upon request), kitchen utensils, and RV approved toilet paper and deodorizer. What’s the best part? Just return Ruby with a full tank of gas and an empty black water tank. We will take care of cleaning, sanitizing, and emptying the grey tank upon her return. PLEASE empty the black tank prior to returning. You will be charged for returning Ruby in an excessively dirty state, or failing to empty the black tank. RECOMMENDATIONS: Stick close to home or make it a road-trip. Ruby makes for a great road-trip rig if you want to explore the American west or hit some of our country's amazing National Parks. Our favorite travel destinations are the Gulf Coast (Alabama is surprisingly my favorite place on earth ), Michigan (SO many beautiful lakes), and the Grand Canyon (you've gotta go down in it!) Want to stick closer to home? Iowa has over 60 state parks to explore -- including Ledges State Park, right in our neck of the woods. Or check out the Maquoketa Caves, Backbone State Park, Lake Okoboji or Clear Lake.

Welcome to my ultimate travel van. This van is easy to drive and loaded up. Six Captains Chairs (two in the front and 4 in the middle) and a three person fold out couch that can seat two large adults very comfortably. Three TV's, DVD, and Internet with Apple TV for streaming. Internet work great when on the interstate and the city, but once you get into the mountains you will want DVD's. Bring your Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu sign-in and stream as you go down the road, as long as you have service. Fridge, microwave, and rear storage. Rides great. Gets and average of 13mpg at 70mph. Adults only, this is a very expensive van so mature and responsible renters only. Note, this is a high profile vehicle and can be affected by high winds and ice, witch can cause delays when traveling. Does great in snow but is not 4x4.

Discover Des Moines

Friendly faces, unique urban parks, and some of the best excursions in the state await anybody visiting Des Moines. Iowa's largest and capital city, Des Moines, boasts a wide variety of interesting attractions, from its gold-domed capitol building to its vast open-air history museum. Like many cities in the Midwest, Des Moines is an underrated destination for foodies and is known for its farm-to-table produce and delicious BBQ.

The best time to book a Des Moines RV rental is in the summer when temperatures regularly exceed 80 degrees, and you can attend some of the best events in Iowa, like the Iowa State Fair, the Des Moines Art Festival, and Capital City Pride. Discover one of the Midwest's best-kept secrets with a camper rental in Des Moines.

Make the most of your Iowa road trip by staying at one of the best campgrounds in Des Moines. The Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground is among the top campgrounds in the city, with over 140 sites with full hookups just 11 miles from downtown. Each site has pull-through access and 30/50 amp electricity. After you've settled in, cast a line into the fishing pond, or challenge your crew in the game room. There are several amenities to make you feel at home, too, including laundry facilities, showers, and bathrooms.

Roughly 20 minutes northwest of downtown Des Moines is Cutty's Camping Resort. This large campground offers lakeside sites with full hookups that supply max amp electricity. The camp is spread across 80 acres and provides campers with tons of activities to keep them entertained, including a fishing lake, a swimming pool, mini-golf, and much more. Amenities are standard, and there's even an onsite cafe in case you fancy a bite to eat before heading into the city.

If you'd prefer to park up further from the city, check out the Des Moines West KOA. This KOA is located 30 minutes away near Winterset, the birthplace of John Wayne and the setting for The Bridges of Madison County. Each peaceful pull-through campsite comes with full hookups and max amp electricity. There's no better RV park in Des Moines for canine campers, with two onsite dog parks for your furry friend to enjoy. There's plenty to keep campers entertained, too, with a heated swimming pool, classic campground games, and a playground for kids. You'll find some unique amenities around camp as well, like an onsite restaurant and a grocery store.

Des Moine trailer rentals are perfect for families, with several attractions sure to please all ages. Des Moines is well suited for RVs, with much lower traffic levels than other major Midwest cities like Chicago and Minneapolis. There are also several places you can park an RV downtown, like at Walnut Woods State Park and the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The Blank Park Zoo is among Iowa's top attractions, with nearly 1,500 animals spread across 49 acres. The zoo is big on preservation and is home to some rare critters, like red pandas, Amur tigers, and golden-headed tamarins. Highlights from the zoo include feeding exotic birds at the Tropical Aviary and experiencing a savanna safari at the Jaama Kwa: Connection to Africa exhibit.

Alternatively, step back in time and learn about Iowa's agricultural history at Living History Farms. An open-air museum covering 500 acres of Iowa countryside, Living History Farms depicts 300 years of local history through recreations of pioneer log cabins, late 18th century towns, and Industrial-era farmsteads.

If you want to experience Iowa's countryside without leaving the city, head to Walnut Woods State Park. Less than 20 minutes from the heart of Des Moines, Walnut Woods State Park encompasses 260 acres of lush woodlands along Racoon River. It's famous for containing the largest natural area of black walnut trees left in the country. Racoon River is a popular spot for canoeing, and anglers will have the opportunity to reel in catfish and bass. While exploring the park's two miles of hiking trails, be on the lookout for local bird species, with warblers, hawks, and flycatchers native to the area.
