Turlock Lake State Recreation Area offers a scenic destination in eastern Stanislaus County, California, approximately 25 miles east of Modesto. With 26 miles of shoreline along Turlock Lake and the Tuolumne River at 250-foot elevation, this park provides diverse outdoor experiences in the San Joaquin Valley region.
When open, visitors enjoy comprehensive water activities including swimming, fishing, boating with dedicated ramps, kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, and windsurfing. The park features a 60-site campground with family campsites and RV access, plus hike-and-bike campsites. Campsites include tables, grills, firewood, and fire pits along the scenic Tuolumne River's south bank.
Day-use facilities include picnic areas with tables and grills, parking, toilets, hot showers, and drinking water available throughout the grounds. The park is wheelchair accessible and welcomes dogs on 6-foot leashes, making it pet-friendly for family outings.
