Fish Lake Provincial Recreational Area, also known as Shunda Lake, is a picturesque campground nestled in the Alberta foothills, located 6 km west of Nordegg along Highway 11. Surrounded by mature trees and set alongside a serene foothills lake, this destination offers over 100 campsites including powered, unserviced, waterfront, pull-through, and group sites — making it suitable for a wide range of RV travellers. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, perfect for fishing enthusiasts, and welcomes non-motorized and electric-motor boating, with a boat launch on site. Water hookups and electrical hookups are available, and amenities include firewood, picnic tables, grills, and washroom facilities. Beyond the campsite, guests can explore an extensive network of regional trails for hiking and mountain biking, enjoy swimming, horseshoes, or geocaching. In winter, the area transforms into a cross-country skiing and ice fishing destination. The campground is operated by Westward Bound Campgrounds and is conveniently positioned near the Nordegg heritage site and the scenic David Thompson Corridor, one of Alberta's most breathtaking mountain highways. Fish Lake PRA is an ideal base camp for outdoor adventures in central Alberta.
