We had a great experience with Rich and his beautiful trailer for our May long weekend camping trip at Sproat Lake. He was a fast communicator which I appreciated and made it so we had a seamless little holiday. My kids loved the bunkbeds and I loved the comfy queen bed. I would highly recommend booking with Rich and his trailer for your next camping adventure.

Great experience with hazen and this trailer. It’s very well set up, with 10x10 canopy, lots of camping chairs, plates, bowls, cutlery, utensils etc. we didn’t need to bring much at all. Hazen was an awesome host. Very communicative and there when needed. Recommend. 10/10!

Richard was fantastic to deal with, and the equipment was excellent. The trailer was spotless and felt like new. We’re experienced RV users, and one common challenge—especially at off‑grid/provincial campsites—is power. This trailer is equipped with a high-end LiFePO₄ and generator. On our first day it was 29°C, so we tested the air conditioning, which runs smoothly while the generator is operating and charging the batteries. We spent six nights camping and had zero power/battery issues, despite very minimal generator use. The extra seating, outdoor ground cover, table, drying rack, and other thoughtful extras were a lovely bonus. Delivery process was painless. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and would absolutely recommend this rental.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Ucluelet, BC

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Ucluelet, BC?

Renting an RV in Ucluelet is more affordable than you might think, especially when you split the cost across a group. Expect to pay around $120 to $180 per night for travel trailers and $180 to $300 per night for motorhomes, with peak July and August rates trending higher. For a cheap RV rental in Ucluelet, target the shoulder months of May, June, and September when daily rates drop noticeably and the Pacific Rim is just as stunning. Many hosts also offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a seven-day Ucluelet RV trip often pencils out cheaper per night than a four-day weekend. Pro tip: book by February for summer to lock in the best owners before they're snapped up.

What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Ucluelet?

Good news: your regular passenger driver's license is all you need for almost every RV rental in Ucluelet. In British Columbia, a standard Class 5 (or Class 7) license lets you operate most motorhomes without air brakes and tow a recreational trailer within standard weight limits. That covers the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. RVezy requires approved drivers to be at least 25 years old, and visitors from outside Canada can drive on a valid home-country license (an International Driving Permit is recommended if your license isn't in English). RVezy verifies your ID right through the booking platform, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup.

Is insurance and roadside assistance included with my Ucluelet RV rental?

Every RV rental in Ucluelet booked through RVezy comes with a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit Highway 4 with confidence. RVezy renter protection plans cover most damages to the vehicle and give you serious financial peace of mind. You choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you stay in control of how much protection feels right for your trip. If anything goes sideways between Port Alberni and the Pacific Rim, RVezy's roadside team is one phone call away around the clock. That safety net is exactly why first-timers feel comfortable taking on the winding drive over Sutton Pass.

What if I need to cancel my Ucluelet RV trip?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, and there's a money-back grace period right after you book in case plans shift. The exact terms depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. If something unexpected happens, like a winter storm or Highway 4 closure, RVezy's support team will walk you through your options. You can review the full cancellation details on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm, so there are no surprises. Bottom line: lock in that dream Ucluelet RV trip early without worrying that life might get in the way.

Can I bring my dog on a Ucluelet RV rental?

Absolutely, Ucluelet is one of the most dog-loving towns on Vancouver Island, and plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Ucluelet are available. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Once you arrive, your pup will love leashed walks on the 8 km Wild Pacific Trail, sunset romps at Big Beach and Little Beach, and the off-leash area at Frank Jones Memorial Park. Dogs are also welcome on Pacific Rim National Park Reserve beaches like Florencia Bay and Wickaninnish, as long as they stay leashed. Heads up: the nearest vet clinic is about 90 minutes away in Port Alberni, so pack any meds your dog needs before heading to the coast.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Ucluelet?

Yes, RV delivery in Ucluelet is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you don't want to drive Highway 4's twists over Sutton Pass yourself. Many hosts will deliver and set up the RV directly at Green Point Campground in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, Ucluelet Campground in town, or Surf Junction Campground, then walk you through every system before they leave. Just filter for Delivery on the search page and message the host with your campsite number and dates. This is the easiest way to rent an RV in Ucluelet if it's your first time, since you skip the long mountain drive from Nanaimo or Victoria and start your trip already parked beside the ocean.

How does mileage work, and how far can I drive on a Ucluelet RV trip?

Hosts set their own mileage policies, and many Ucluelet listings include generous daily mileage or even RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for exploring Vancouver Island. From Ucluelet you can reach Tofino in about 40 km (35 minutes), Port Alberni in 120 km (1 hour 45 minutes), Nanaimo in 290 km (3.5 hours), and Victoria in roughly 310 km (4.5 hours). A loop up to Cathedral Grove's old-growth Douglas firs is a popular day trip. Always check the listing's mileage allowance before booking, and if you're planning a bigger Vancouver Island circuit, just message the host upfront to confirm or add extra kilometres at a flat rate.

Where are the best campgrounds near Ucluelet to park an RV?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Ucluelet. Green Point Campground inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve sits on a bluff above Long Beach with 94 drive-in sites and 15/30 amp hookups, open roughly May through mid-October. Ucluelet Campground, the only campground right in downtown Ucluelet, has 125 sites on 15 acres with full water, sewer, and electric hookups for rigs from 19 to 42 feet. Surf Junction Campground on Pacific Rim Highway has 52 sites with full hookups, while Island West Resort offers waterfront RV sites near the marina. For a more remote feel, Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is just up the highway. Book Green Point through the Parks Canada reservation system as soon as it opens in January, since it fills every night in summer.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/bc/pacificrim/activ/camping

When is the best time to visit Ucluelet in an RV?

Ucluelet is a true year-round destination, but July, August, and September are the sweet spot for an RV trip with daytime highs around 17 to 18 °C (63 to 64 °F), the lowest rainfall of the year, and up to 11 hours of sunshine in July. June and early October are fantastic shoulder seasons with smaller crowds and better RV rates. Winter brings legendary storm watching from November through February, when Pacific swells pound the coast and Ucluelet earns its reputation as one of Canada's premier storm-watching destinations. Snow is rare thanks to the mild coastal climate, so winter campervan rental in Ucluelet is genuinely doable if you pack rain gear and enjoy dramatic seas.

I've never rented an RV before. Is Ucluelet a good place to start?

Ucluelet is a fantastic spot for your first time renting an RV, because the local hosts are used to coaching newcomers. Every RVezy booking includes a hands-on orientation at pickup where the host walks you through the propane, water, electrical, and slide-out systems, answers every question, and often sends you off with a cheat sheet. You can also message the host before you book to ask anything, and RVezy's support team is available 24/7 during your trip. If the drive over Highway 4 feels intimidating, choose a host who offers RV delivery in Ucluelet so the rig is already parked and set up when you arrive. Most first-timers tell us they're surprised how quickly the nerves disappear once they're sipping coffee with an ocean view at Long Beach.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/bc/pacificrim/activ/camping

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Ucluelet booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on the Pacific Rim Highway or a finicky furnace in November isn't a trip-ender. One call connects you with a dispatcher who can send help to wherever you are, whether you're parked at Green Point Campground or boondocking near Kennedy Lake. Your host is also typically reachable by phone or message and knows their rig inside out, which often solves smaller hiccups in minutes. Pro tip: snap a few photos of any hookup setup at pickup so you have a visual reference if you need to troubleshoot later.

Can I take my Ucluelet RV rental on a road trip to other parts of BC or the US?

A Ucluelet RV trip is a perfect launchpad for a longer Vancouver Island or BC adventure. Popular RV road trips from Ucluelet include Tofino and Cox Bay (40 km), Cathedral Grove and Port Alberni (120 km), Nanaimo and the BC Ferries terminal to the mainland (290 km), and Victoria's Inner Harbour (310 km). Many hosts allow travel anywhere in Canada and the lower 48 US states, but cross-border trips depend on the host's insurance, so message them through the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. If you want to ferry across to the mainland, plan ahead and reserve your BC Ferries spot for oversized vehicles.

How much will fuel cost for my Ucluelet RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost on a Vancouver Island RV trip, so it pays to budget realistically. Class C motorhomes average around 17 to 22 litres per 100 km (10 to 14 mpg), Class B campervans get 12 to 16 L/100 km, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas prices in Ucluelet typically run higher than mainland BC since fuel is trucked in over Highway 4, so top up in Port Alberni on your way in when you can. A round trip from Nanaimo to Ucluelet and back in a Class C will likely cost $150 to $250 in fuel. Pro tip: drive 90 km/h instead of 100 on the highway and you'll noticeably stretch every tank.
www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/transportation/transportation-environment/clean-transportation/fuel-prices

How far in advance should I book a campground near Ucluelet?

For summer, book your campground the same day you book your RV, ideally three to six months out. Green Point Campground in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve opens reservations through the Parks Canada reservation system (reservation.pc.gc.ca) in January, and prime July and August dates often vanish within hours. Ucluelet Campground and Surf Junction Campground both fill quickly for summer weekends too. If you're traveling May, June, September, or October, you can often find sites two to four weeks out. Insider tip: if Green Point is sold out, use a cancellation alert service or check the Parks Canada site early in the morning, since cancellations pop up daily as plans change.
reservation.pc.gc.ca/Pacificrim

What are the driving conditions like on Highway 4 to Ucluelet?

Highway 4 from Port Alberni to Ucluelet is a beautiful but winding mountain road that's manageable in any RV with a bit of preparation. The route climbs Sutton Pass (240 metres) and hugs Kennedy Lake before the Junction near Ucluelet, with curves, occasional single-lane sections at Cameron Lake Bluffs, and the famous Cathedral Grove pinch point. Plan to drive in daylight, take your time, and check DriveBC.ca for real-time updates on construction or wildfire activity. From October 1 to March 31, winter tires marked M+S are legally required on this stretch. Pro tip: fuel up and grab groceries in Port Alberni before the climb, since prices on the coast are higher and the next gas station is over an hour away.
drivebc.ca/mobile/pub/events/Highway4.html

What amenities will I find at Ucluelet-area campgrounds?

Local campgrounds make RV camping in Ucluelet easy and comfortable. Ucluelet Campground offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric), hot showers, laundry, and a dump station right in town. Green Point Campground has 15 and 30 amp hookups on drive-in sites, flush toilets, showers, fire pits, and an on-site sani-dump. Surf Junction has full hookups plus a hot tub. For freshwater fills and dumping between campgrounds, the Pacific Rim Visitor Centre area and the Ucluelet Co-op are handy stops. Most park reserve sites include fire pits, but you'll want to buy firewood locally to avoid spreading invasive pests. Pro tip: cell service can be spotty on Long Beach, so download offline maps and entertainment before you arrive.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/bc/pacificrim/activ/camping

What's included in a typical RV rental in Ucluelet?

Ucluelet RV rentals come fully equipped for west coast adventures. Most motorhome rentals in Ucluelet sleep four to seven and include real beds with linens (ask the host), a kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, microwave, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a propane furnace for chilly coastal nights, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a generator, awning, outdoor chairs, and a TV, and an increasing number offer Wi-Fi hotspots or starter cell boosters which is handy since coverage thins out between Ucluelet and Tofino. Campervans are more compact but still pack a kitchenette and sleeping for two to four. Check the listing's amenities list and message the host with any must-haves like a roof rack for surfboards or kid-friendly extras.
discoverucluelet.com/make-a-plan/

What add-ons and pickup options should I look for when renting an RV in Ucluelet?

Hosts offer a range of helpful add-ons to customize your Ucluelet RV trip. Common extras include kitchen kits, bedding packages, BBQs, bikes, surfboard racks, generators, and even pre-stocked firewood, typically priced between $25 and $100 each. Pickup is usually at the host's home base on Vancouver Island, though many offer RV delivery in Ucluelet directly to campgrounds like Green Point or Ucluelet Campground for a flat fee based on distance. One-way trips between cities are sometimes possible by arrangement, so message the host if you're flying into Victoria or Nanaimo and want to end your trip in Ucluelet. Pro tip: add the surfboard rack and a wetsuit rental from a local Ucluelet shop, then surf Long Beach or Florencia Bay on day one.
discoverucluelet.com/make-a-plan/

How does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, no cash or e-transfers to the host required. You'll pay the full rental cost plus taxes when you book, and a refundable security deposit is held separately before the trip starts. The deposit amount depends on the RV and is shown clearly during booking, typically between $500 and $1,500. As long as you return the RV on time, clean, with the right fuel and propane levels, and undamaged, the deposit is released within a few days after the trip. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff with your host so there's a clear record of the RV's condition, the single best way to avoid any deposit issues.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Is winter RV camping in Ucluelet actually doable?

Yes, and it's one of the best-kept secrets of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet has one of the mildest winters in Canada, with January daytime highs around 8 to 9 \u00B0C (46 to 48 \u00B0F) and snow being a rare visitor, so winter RV camping in Ucluelet is genuinely comfortable for storm watchers and surfers. Ucluelet Campground stays open year-round with full hookups, which means shore power for your heater, fresh water, and sewer right at the site. Choose an RV listing with a propane furnace, heated holding tanks, and good insulation, and message the host to confirm cold-weather readiness. Reward: November through February delivers Pacific storms with crashing waves visible right from the Wild Pacific Trail, often with the campground nearly to yourself.
