We had a great time working with Raber Family Travel. The trailer was such a blessing as our daughter and son-in-law just moved and there was no room at the inn yet. The kitchen was well stocked, the new ROKU TV was nice (I recommend bring your own ROKU), both inside and outside rugs where provided.

My wife and I had a great week with this RV. We found it to be a perfect size for the 2 and 3 night camping we were doing. We visited 2 New York State Parks and found the RV easy to get around in and park. Being able to pull over and walk to the back to make lunch on a travel day made us the go to vehicle for travel meals. Todd was a great host. He took his time to show me how everything worked and was available immediately during our trip when a question came up. It was obvious that he takes care of his RV. It was clean, well organized and time was taken to minimize squeaks and rattles. We are already looking to book this ride for next summer. Thank you for allowing us to rent your RV.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Howe, IN

Do I need a special driver's license to drive an RV around Howe, Indiana?

Great news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Howe. Indiana does not require any special endorsement or commercial driver's license (CDL) for personal-use motorhomes under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every RV on RVezy, including Class A, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association before you fly in, usually under $20, and you're ready to roll into LaGrange County's Amish backroads.

How much does an RV rental in Howe, IN typically cost?

RV rentals in Howe are among the most affordable in the Midwest. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches range from roughly $250 to $400 per night. Because hosts set their own pricing on RVezy, you will find genuine range and frequent weeknight discounts, especially outside the busy Shipshewana Flea Market season from May through September. For a cheap RV rental in Howe, try shoulder-season dates in April, early May, or October, and filter by travel trailers, which often deliver the best value for families. Browse current listings and live pricing directly on RVezy to compare options before you book.

The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, so you do not need to arrange separate insurance. What if my plans change? How does cancellation work?

Plans change, and RVezy is built for that. Every booking is backed by the standard RVezy cancellation policy (not set by the individual host), with a full money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great RV in Howe without second-guessing. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook. Full details are on the RVezy Help Center, and our support team is one message away if your plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on an RV trip in Howe?

Absolutely, and Howe is a fantastic basecamp for dog owners. Many hosts on RVezy offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Howe, just click the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Once you are here, your pup will love the trails at Pokagon State Park near Angola (about 30 minutes east), the shaded paths along the Pigeon River Fish & Wildlife Area, and walking the grounds around the Shipshewana Flea Market just 7 miles down State Road 120, where leashed pets are generally welcome outdoors if you bring cleanup supplies. Most LaGrange County campgrounds, including Twin Mills Camping Resort, allow dogs on leash. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any size notes so your check-in is seamless.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Howe?

Yes, and it is one of the smartest ways to plan a first-time Howe RV trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Howe, meaning they will tow or drive the RV to your campsite, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That is a game-changer if you are booking a site at Twin Mills Camping Resort or Pokagon State Park near Angola and do not want to drive a 30-foot motorhome on your first try. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which listings offer it, and message the host to confirm distance, setup fees, and pickup time. Many will even stock propane and freshwater so you can start camping the moment they leave.

How many miles can I drive, and how far can I realistically go from Howe?

Howe sits in a sweet spot for road trips. Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance (typically 100 to 150 free miles per day) with the option to prepay for extra miles or unlimited mileage upfront. Some listings even offer an unlimited-mileage add-on, which is gold for a Howe RV road trip. From Howe you can easily reach Shipshewana (7 miles), Pokagon State Park in Angola (30 miles), the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart (35 miles), Notre Dame in South Bend (55 miles), Lake Michigan beaches at Warren Dunes State Park (75 miles), Chicago (about 140 miles), and Indianapolis (180 miles). Pro tip: ask your host about a flat-rate mileage package if you are planning a multi-state loop, it is usually cheaper than per-mile overage.

Where are the best campgrounds near Howe, IN for RV camping?

You are spoiled for choice. The top pick right in town is Twin Mills Camping Resort on West State Road 120, a large wooded resort with full hookups, a pool, and lake access, open seasonally from spring through fall. About 30 minutes east, Pokagon State Park near Angola offers electric and non-electric sites along Lake James and Snow Lake, with a heated saddlebarn, beach, and trails. Trading Post Canoe & Kayak Rental in Mongo offers riverside camping on the Pigeon River and is a favorite for paddlers. For Amish Country shoppers, Shipshewana Campground South & Amish Log Cabin Lodging is minutes from the famous flea market. Reserve Pokagon through the Indiana DNR reservation system up to six months ahead, summer weekends book fast.

When is the best time of year to plan an RV trip from Howe?

Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Howe, with daytime highs in the 70s to mid-80s F and comfortable overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. July and August are peak season (perfect for swimming at Lake James), while September and early October bring spectacular fall color along the Pigeon River and thinner crowds at the Shipshewana Flea Market. The flea market runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May through September, the single biggest draw in LaGrange County. Winters are genuinely cold (lows in the teens and 20s F with lake-effect snow), so if you are booking a winter RV trip, look for a four-season rig with heated tanks and confirm your campground has winter water service.
weather.gov/iwx/

I have never driven an RV. Will I be okay starting in Howe?

Yes, and Howe is honestly one of the easiest places in the country for first time renting an RV. The roads around LaGrange County are flat, rural, and lightly trafficked, which is exactly what you want while you get comfortable. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the slides, water, propane, generator, and waste systems, and you will have their number plus 24/7 roadside assistance through your protection plan for the whole trip. Watch for Amish horse-drawn buggies on county roads (slow down, pass wide), and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) is just minutes north if you would rather stick to highways. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome or a small travel trailer for your first trip, they drive much like a large van.

What happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?

You are never on your own. Every RVezy rental in Howe, IN comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with your protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something goes wrong, one call gets help dispatched, and Elkhart, just 35 miles west, is the RV capital of America with more service centers and parts dealers than almost anywhere on Earth, so repairs happen fast. Your host is also a quick message away through the RVezy app, and our customer support team is on standby before, during, and after your trip. Translation: even if your campervan rental Howe adventure hits a hiccup, you will be back on the road quickly.

Can I take the RV across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is built into your booking. From Howe, IN, popular routes cross easily into Michigan (Sturgis is just 9 miles north), Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin without any extra paperwork. Many hosts allow Canada travel too (Niagara Falls or Toronto are popular Howe RV road trip routes), but you must confirm with the host before booking and bring a valid passport. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. A favorite cross-state loop from Howe: head north to Michigan's Warren Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan (75 miles), then loop back through Notre Dame in South Bend. Message the host through the listing page to lock in your route.

What kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?

Good news for your wallet: Indiana consistently ranks among the more affordable states in the Midwest for gas, and Howe is well served by stations along US-20 and the Indiana Toll Road. Realistic fuel economy is about 18 to 22 mpg for a Class B campervan, 8 to 12 mpg for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 10 mpg for a Class A, and 10 to 15 mpg for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. A 250-mile weekend loop in a Class C will typically run roughly $80 to $130 in fuel at current prices. Pro tip: check AAA's daily Indiana average before you fill up, and avoid weekend top-offs near toll road exits where stations often price up for travelers.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Howe?

For Pokagon State Park, book as early as possible: reservations open six months in advance through the Indiana DNR reservation system, and summer weekends, especially around the Fourth of July and Labor Day, sell out within hours. Twin Mills Camping Resort in Howe and Shipshewana-area parks generally need 2 to 3 months of lead time for peak May to September weekends, but you can often grab midweek sites with just a week or two of notice. Holiday weekends require a minimum stay (typically two or three nights) at Indiana state parks. Pro tip: if Pokagon is full, check Chain O' Lakes State Park in Albion (about 45 minutes south), it is a beautiful backup.

What are driving conditions like around Howe?

Driving an RV around Howe is refreshingly easy. The terrain is flat to gently rolling glacial moraine, county roads are wide and well-maintained, and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) is just 5 minutes north for fast travel east or west. Two things to watch: first, you are deep in LaGrange County Amish Country, so you will regularly share roads with horse-drawn buggies, especially on Sundays and weekday mornings, slow down, give them plenty of room, and never honk. Second, winter brings genuine lake-effect snow from November through March, so plan winter trips around fresh forecasts from the National Weather Service. Indiana's legal RV width is 102 inches and standard maximum height is 13 feet 6 inches.
weather.gov/iwx/

What hookups, dump stations, and water fills should I expect at campgrounds near Howe?

You will find excellent infrastructure across northern Indiana. Twin Mills Camping Resort offers full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer) at most sites, plus a camp store and dump station. Pokagon State Park has electric sites across multiple campgrounds (no sewer at sites, but a centralized dump station and water fill near the entrance), and Campground 3 stays open year-round with a heated comfort station. Many LaGrange County private parks include WiFi, laundry, and dump stations. Pro tip: top off freshwater before leaving the campground because rural Indiana does not have many public RV-friendly fill stations along the backroads.
in.gov/dnr/state-parks/parks-lakes/pokagon-state-park/

What features and amenities will the RV itself have?

Most motorhome rental Howe listings come fully equipped for plug-and-play camping. Expect a real bed (queen or king in larger Class A and C units, plus convertible dinettes and bunks for kids), a kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof A/C, furnace, hot water heater, and seatbelted seating for everyone in your party. Many units include a TV, outdoor speakers, a generator or solar, and even outdoor kitchens on toy haulers. Cellular signal can be spotty around the Pigeon River, so plan to use your phone hotspot for connectivity. Each RVezy listing shows a full amenities checklist, so filter for what matters most (like sleeps 6 or generator) before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Howe%2C%20Indiana

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

RVezy hosts in Howe often offer practical add-ons that make your trip easier: bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, outdoor camping chairs and tables, bikes, generators, propane fills, and pet cleaning. Delivery and setup is one of the most popular add-ons (typically priced per mile each way), and many hosts will pre-stock water and propane for a small fee. Pickup is usually at the host's home or storage lot in or near Howe, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary: many listings include 100 to 150 free miles per day with overage typically around $0.30 to $0.45 per mile, and some hosts offer unlimited-mileage upgrades for longer trips. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a linen kit and you can arrive at your campground with just a duffel bag.

How does the security deposit and payment work?

Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card when you book, so there is no awkward cash exchange at pickup. A refundable security deposit (amount varies by RV) is held on your card shortly before the trip and released after return, assuming no damage and the RV comes back in the condition it left. Hosts may also collect for prepaid mileage, generator hours, or propane refills at checkout. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround with photos at both pickup and drop-off, return fuel and propane to where they started, and dump the gray and black tanks before returning, this is the single most common cause of extra fees on any RV rental Indiana trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Where can I park an RV overnight around Howe besides campgrounds?

You have solid options. Many Walmart locations in the region (including Sturgis, MI just 9 miles north, and LaGrange, IN about 8 miles south) allow free overnight RV parking with manager approval, call ahead to confirm. Cracker Barrel locations along I-80/90 are another classic free overnight option when you ask the manager. For paid overnighting, Flying J and Pilot travel centers along the Indiana Toll Road exits offer dedicated RV spots. Indiana rest areas allow short rest stops but not overnight stays. State parks like Pokagon require a reserved campsite, no boondocking. If you want true peace and quiet, the Pigeon River Fish & Wildlife Area near Mongo is day-use only, but nearby private campgrounds offer riverside sites that book up fast in summer.
