Kyle was outstanding. I rented his RV through RVezy for my wedding day, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made. I wanted a comfortable, fun place for me and my groomsmen to hang out before the wedding, and Kyle completely delivered. He was enthusiastic about the idea from the beginning, very accommodating, and made me feel like he genuinely cared about helping make the day special. He drove about 1.5 hours to deliver the RV, arrived on time, communicated clearly the whole way, and even let me know when he was about an hour out. The RV was spotless, and he gave me a detailed walkthrough so I knew exactly how to use everything — audio, Bluetooth, A/C, bedrooms, propane, grill, all of it. On top of that, he went above and beyond by bringing a handmade cornhole set for us to use at no extra charge. That kind of thoughtfulness and customer service is rare. If you’re considering renting from Kyle, do it. He’s professional, reliable, generous, and clearly takes a lot of pride in giving people a great experience. I’d happily rent from him again.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Douglass Hills?

A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Douglass Hills. Kentucky does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes and travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers nearly every RV on RVezy. You must be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID directly through the booking platform, no extra paperwork or DMV trips required. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit from your home country's auto association along with your home license. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the approval process is.

July and August are doable but humid with highs near 90°F, ideal for lake camping at Taylorsville. Fuel is usually the second-biggest expense after the rental itself, but Kentucky helps your budget. Gas prices in the Louisville metro typically run slightly below the national average. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 14 to 20 MPG for a campervan rental Douglass Hills, and similar to your tow vehicle's mileage for travel trailers. A round trip to Mammoth Cave (about 180 miles) in a Class C runs roughly $60 to $90 in fuel at typical prices. Pro tip: fill up at warehouse club stations along Hurstbourne Parkway before hitting the road, and use a fuel-price app to track prices along your route.

Earlier is always better, but you have options. For Kentucky State Parks like Taylorsville Lake or My Old Kentucky Home, book through the official Kentucky State Parks reservation system up to a year in advance, especially for Derby weekend, Memorial Day, July 4th, and fall foliage in October. Mammoth Cave Campground reservations open six months out on Recreation.gov and fill quickly for weekends. What's it like driving an RV around Douglass Hills and Louisville?

Easier than you'd expect, especially if you stick to the parkways. Douglass Hills sits just off Shelbyville Road in eastern Jefferson County, with quick access to I-64, I-265 (the Gene Snyder Freeway), and I-71. These are wide, RV-friendly routes with gentle grades. Avoid the narrow streets and low railroad bridges in Old Louisville and NuLu, where clearances can be under 12 feet. Watch for sudden spring thunderstorms (Kentucky sits in the eastern edge of tornado alley) and check forecasts daily. Pro tip: nervous about city driving? Choose RV delivery Douglass Hills and skip the urban part entirely, your host brings the rig to you.

Many RVs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, awning, outdoor chairs, and onboard generator for boondocking. Wi-Fi varies by host (some include hotspots, others don't), so ask if it matters for your trip. How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and secure, no cash exchanged with the host. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book. A refundable security deposit (set by the host, typically $500 to $1,500) is placed as a hold on your card before your trip and released after a successful dropoff, usually within a few business days. To avoid deposit issues, take timestamped photos of the RV at pickup and dropoff, return it with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks at a dump station. Pro tip: confirm with the host upfront whether there's a cleaning fee or bundle so there are zero surprises.
