2020 Jayco Travel Trailer
The camper was well stocked, clean, and comfortable. This is the 2nd time we rented from mike and he is very accommodating. Next time ill have to remember not to pack so much. They even thought of is when the nights got cold and brought us another propane tank, just in case, and we didnt even have to ask. Thanks Mike, for another wonderful fall adventure.

From the beginning of my inquiry, Michael was very communicative and prompt. Booking of their trailer was very easy. He walked me through every portion of the trailer and allowed me to come in advance to ensure I knew how to operate everything. The cleanliness of the camper was above par! They had everything one could need on a camping trip and all I had to bring was food and clothes - they took care of everything else (e.g., linens, towels, soap, dishes, etc.). Easy, relaxing experience!

Shawn and Melinda made it easy to hold a memorable Penn State tailgate, even for someone like me who is new to RV rental. The Beaver Stadium RV lot didn’t have RV hookups so they made sure we had water and extra gas for the generator. They thought if every detail. The RV was super clean and well-stocked. They had excellent communication and were so friendly and helpful. I would 100% rent from them again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Tyrone, PA
How much does an RV rental in Tyrone, PA typically cost?
Great news: an RV rental in Tyrone, PA is one of the more affordable ways to explore central Pennsylvania. Travel trailers usually run about $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275, and larger Class A units hover around $250 to $400. Rates dip noticeably from November through March, and shoulder seasons like late April and October are sweet spots if you want fall foliage along the Little Juniata River without peak pricing. To score a cheap RV rental Tyrone travelers love, filter by Instant Book, compare weeknight stays, and check for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead of a Penn State football weekend in nearby State College saves you the most.
visitpa.com/article/rv-camping-pennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Tyrone, PA?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Tyrone, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for personal-use motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels rented through RVezy, regardless of size. RVezy's approved driver requirements ask that renters be 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens inside the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association along with your home license. Most first-timers are surprised how simple it is to go from clicking Book to rolling out toward Bald Eagle State Forest.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I book an RV in Tyrone, PA?
Every RV rental in Tyrone, PA booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on the trip instead of the what-ifs. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV, and you choose the coverage level that fits your comfort at checkout. Roadside help is built in for flat tires, lockouts, jump-starts, and towing, which is reassuring on winding routes like PA-453 toward Raystown Lake. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully at booking, especially if you are a first-time renter heading into Rothrock State Forest where cell service can be patchy. It is the kind of safety net that turns nervous renters into confident, repeat travelers.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Tyrone, PA RV rental?
Booking an RV rental in Tyrone, PA is lower-risk than you might think. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and it includes a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, refund eligibility depends on factors like how far out your trip is, and RVezy support can help if severe weather such as a central PA winter storm or summer flooding along the Juniata disrupts plans. You will see the exact cancellation terms before you confirm payment. Pro tip: book early to lock in your preferred rig for a Tyrone RV trip, knowing flexibility is baked in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Tyrone, PA?
Yes, your pup is welcome on plenty of trips. Filter for Pet-Friendly on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental Tyrone hosts have set up for furry passengers, then message the host to confirm specifics like size or shedding. Pennsylvania state parks allow pets on designated campsites, and nearby favorites like Black Moshannon State Park and Prince Gallitzin State Park have pet-friendly loops you can reserve in advance. For a stretch-the-legs stop, the trails at Canoe Creek State Park (about 20 minutes from Tyrone) are a great choice. Pro tip: pack a copy of your dog's vaccination record. Some campgrounds will ask at check-in, especially during peak summer weekends.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/pets-in-campgrounds-and-cabins.htmlCan the RV be delivered right to my campsite near Tyrone, PA?
Yes, and it is often the easiest way to start your trip. Many Tyrone-area hosts offer RV delivery to popular spots like Bald Eagle State Park, Greenwood Furnace State Park, or even a friend's driveway. They will level the rig, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts deliver and their radius, then check the listing for the fee, which usually scales with mileage. Pro tip: if it is your first time renting an RV, delivery is a game-changer. You skip the stress of towing or maneuvering a motorhome and just enjoy the campfire.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038124854-Delivery-optionsHow far can I drive on my Tyrone RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of range for a great central PA adventure. Most Tyrone hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles billed at $0.30 to $0.45 each, and a growing number offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage option for an upfront fee. That's more than enough to reach Raystown Lake (about 35 miles south), State College and Penn State (25 miles east), Pittsburgh (115 miles west), or Gettysburg (about 110 miles southeast). Mileage policies are listed clearly on every RVezy listing, so compare a few before booking. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Tyrone toward the Poconos or Niagara Falls, unlimited mileage usually pays for itself by night three.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Tyrone for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice with some of the best campgrounds near Tyrone within an easy drive. Bald Eagle State Park's Russell P. Letterman Campground offers full-hookup sites about 30 minutes north along Foster Joseph Sayers Lake. Black Moshannon State Park (40 minutes northeast) is loved for its forested electric sites and dark skies. Prince Gallitzin State Park's Crooked Run Campground (about an hour west) sits on Glendale Lake with swimming, boating, and pet-friendly loops. For lakeside RV camping Tyrone visitors rave about, Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake (45 minutes south) has over 200 sites. Pro tip: Pennsylvania state parks let you reserve up to 11 months ahead, so book Friday nights early.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites/camping-locations-map.htmlWhen is the best time of year to plan an RV trip from Tyrone?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot, with mid-September through mid-October being the absolute showstopper for fall foliage along the Allegheny Front. Summer days in Tyrone average 75 to 85°F with cool 55 to 65°F nights, perfect for campfires. Spring (April to May) is quieter and great for trout fishing on the Little Juniata, while winter brings highs in the 30s and frequent snow, so most state park campgrounds close by mid-December. Pro tip: locals plan Tyrone RV camping trips around the third weekend of September, when the leaves on PA-350 and along Skyline Drive in nearby Bald Eagle State Forest start glowing red and orange. Book that weekend at least three months out.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Tyrone?
You'll do great, and you're not figuring it out alone. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from leveling and slide-outs to the water heater and waste tanks. If first time renting an RV makes you nervous, choose a smaller Class C or campervan rental Tyrone hosts offer for easier handling on routes like US-220 and PA-453. Delivery is also a fantastic option: the host parks and sets up the RV at your campsite, so you only drive your own car. You can message any host with questions before booking too. Pro tip: practice driving in the lot at the Tyrone Walmart on Plank Road before heading out. Twenty minutes of practice builds huge confidence.
dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my Tyrone, PA trip?
Take a breath: you are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so one phone call gets a pro dispatched for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, lost keys, or towing. Your host is also a message away for quick questions about quirks specific to their rig. Central PA's mountain roads near Tyrone (think US-322 over Skytop or PA-453 toward Tipton) can be a workout on tires, so it is reassuring to know help is one tap away. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and tire info during your walkthrough and save the RVezy support number in your phone before leaving the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Tyrone, PA rental on a longer RV road trip across state lines?
Absolutely. An RV road trip from Tyrone opens up much of the eastern US: Niagara Falls is about 4.5 hours north, Washington DC is roughly 3.5 hours south, and Acadia National Park in Maine is a long but doable run. Cross-state travel within the US is allowed on RVezy bookings with the standard protection plan. Cross-border trips into Canada may be permitted depending on the host and insurance, so message the host directly before booking. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental due to insurance coverage. Pro tip: ask your host about toll transponders since I-76 (the Pennsylvania Turnpike) and I-80 both run within an hour of Tyrone.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on my Tyrone RV rental?
Easier than you'd think to budget. Class B campervans get about 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes around 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A or large fifth wheels closer to 6 to 9 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, hovering around $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon recently in the Tyrone area, with Sheetz and GetGo stations on Plank Road being convenient fill-up spots. A weekend trip to Raystown Lake and back (about 70 miles round trip) in a Class C will run roughly $25 to $40 in fuel. Pro tip: use GasBuddy and fill up in Tyrone before heading into the mountains, where prices climb noticeably.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Tyrone?
Book sooner than you think, especially for summer. Pennsylvania state parks accept reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official DCNR reservation system, and that's exactly when popular spots like Black Moshannon, Bald Eagle, and Prince Gallitzin start filling for July and August weekends. For fall foliage weekends in late September and early October, aim for at least 3 months out. Penn State home football weekends in nearby State College sell out all area campgrounds 6+ months ahead. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) at any state park near Tyrone are almost always available last-minute and often $5 to $10 cheaper per night, perfect for a spontaneous escape.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat are driving conditions like around Tyrone for a larger RV?
Tyrone is genuinely RV-friendly with a few smart heads-up tips. The main routes (US-220, I-99, and PA-453) are wide, well-maintained, and handle big rigs comfortably. Watch for two things: steep grades and curves on PA-350 toward Tipton and Skytop Summit, where downshifting helps, and the low railroad overpasses in downtown Tyrone (some clearances around 12 feet), so stick to Pennsylvania Avenue and Plank Road. Winter brings real snow, so check 511PA before traveling December through March. Where to park an RV in Tyrone for a quick stop? The Walmart Supercenter on Plank Road and the Sheetz lots are RV-friendly for a meal or fuel break. Pro tip: use the truck routes posted on PennDOT's site to avoid surprises.
511pa.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds around Tyrone?
You'll find more than enough to stay comfortable. State park campgrounds like Bald Eagle, Black Moshannon, and Prince Gallitzin offer a mix of electric-only and full-hookup (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric) sites, modern bathhouses with hot showers, dump stations, potable water fill, and firewood for sale at entrance stations (about $5 to $6 a bundle). Private parks like Seven Points at Raystown Lake add laundry, camp stores, and Wi-Fi at central buildings. Cell coverage gets spotty at Black Moshannon and Greenwood Furnace, which honestly makes it easier to unplug. Pro tip: top off fresh water in Tyrone before driving up to Black Moshannon since the campground spigots can have long lines on Friday afternoons during summer.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/state-parks/find-a-park/black-moshannon-state-park.htmlWhat should I expect inside the RV (beds, kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi)?
Today's rentals feel like cozy little apartments on wheels. Most motorhome rental Tyrone listings sleep 4 to 8 with a mix of queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes, plus a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink. Bathrooms include a toilet and shower (and yes, hot water). Class A and Class C rigs typically have a generator for off-grid AC and TV use, plus seatbelts for travel; campervans skew more minimalist but include solar and propane. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss in the rural valleys around Tyrone, so don't count on streaming at Black Moshannon. Pro tip: filter by 'Sleeps' count and amenities like awning, outdoor kitchen, or bike rack to match the rig to your family RV trip Tyrone plans.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for when I rent an RV in Tyrone?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons on RV rental Pennsylvania listings include linens and bedding packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, generator use ($3 to $10 per hour beyond included hours), bike racks, kayaks, propane refills, and dump-station service at return ($30 to $75 to skip the chore). Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Tyrone, with typical windows around 1 to 5 PM, and return mornings by 11 AM. Mileage policies and generator hours are listed up top on every listing. Pro tip: if you're heading to a no-hookup site at Black Moshannon, add generator hours and a propane top-off at booking. It's almost always cheaper than paying for extras after the trip.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/state-parks/find-a-park/bald-eagle-state-park.htmlHow does payment and the security deposit work on an RVezy rental in Tyrone, PA?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and funds are held safely until your trip begins, so you are never handing cash to a stranger. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup and released after a smooth return, usually within a few days. To avoid issues, walk through the RV with your host at pickup and return, take photos of the exterior, interior, mileage, and fuel and propane levels, and return it in the same condition. Pro tip: respect the mileage and generator limits on your specific Tyrone listing. Overages are the most common reason renters see deductions, and they are easy to avoid.
