Mathew was awesome. Very friendly guy. We requested a delivery for his camper and by the time we got to the campgrounds at the agreed upon time to meet him at the entrance and show him where to setup.. he already had the camper completely ready to go on our site and was just waiting for us to arrive. Trailer was perfect. Looks brand new, clean, and everything worked with no issues. We will definitely give him repeat business. Highly recommend. Would give 6 stars if possible.

George was an ideal person to rent an RV from for our trip. He was so responsive (way faster than me!) his walkthrough was immensely helpful, and the RV was as described. It's basically brand new and was even nicer than I'd hoped. When I had a question during our trip, he replied in the app basically immediately and gave me the advice that I needed. My family had a great time and I'm already planning to rent from him again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Providence, RI

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Providence, RI?

RV rental in Providence is surprisingly approachable, with plenty of options to fit different budgets. On RVezy, motorhomes near Providence average around $200 per night, while towable travel trailers and campervans typically run closer to $120 per night. Most hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts for weekly and monthly bookings, so a 7-night New England road trip can stretch your dollar further. For a cheap RV rental in Providence, look at shoulder seasons (late April, May, September, October) when nightly rates dip and Burlingame and George Washington state campgrounds are quieter. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book and travel trailers if you already own a tow vehicle, that combo is usually the lowest-cost way into a Rhode Island RV trip.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Providence?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Providence. Rhode Island does not require a special RV license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for any of the Class A, Class B, Class C, travel trailer, or fifth wheel rentals listed on RVezy. You'll just need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking flow, no extra trip to a DMV required. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), usually under $20 from your local auto club. With paperwork out of the way, you can focus on the fun part: planning stops in Newport, Block Island, and Cape Cod.

Is roadside assistance and protection included with my Providence RV rental?

Yes, every RVezy booking in Providence includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can drive Interstate 95 toward Newport or head up to the Blackstone River Valley with peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), so you can pick what fits your group and budget. If you get a flat on the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge or need a battery jump at a Burlingame State Park site, one call dispatches help. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it removes the biggest worry most first-time renters mention when booking an RV rental in Providence.

What is the cancellation policy if my plans change?

Booking an RV rental in Providence is lower-risk than many travelers expect. RVezy sets the cancellation policy platform-wide (not individual hosts), so you do not need to compare fine print between listings. Every booking includes a short grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. Beyond the grace period, refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps you rebook or provides a refund or credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Newport and Cape Cod campsites, knowing flexibility is built into your booking.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Providence?

Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Providence is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Rhode Island is great for traveling with pets: leashed dogs are welcome at most state campgrounds including George Washington Camping Area in Glocester and Fishermen's Memorial State Park in Narragansett, and you can walk them along the East Bay Bike Path or at Colt State Park in Bristol. Newport's Cliff Walk also allows leashed dogs on most sections. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your pet's size and breed and to confirm any cleaning fee, so there are no surprises at drop-off.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Providence?

Yes, RV delivery in Providence is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at Burlingame State Park in Charlestown, Fishermen's Memorial in Narragansett, or to a private driveway in East Providence or Cranston, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. That means you skip the stress of towing through downtown Providence or merging onto I-95 in a 30-foot motorhome. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service and their delivery radius. Most charge a per-mile fee, with flat rates common to Newport and South County destinations.

How far can I drive from Providence on a typical RV trip?

Providence is one of the best launchpads in New England for an RV road trip, you can reach an incredible amount within a half-day's drive. Newport is just 35 miles south (about 45 minutes), Cape Cod is 75 miles east (around 90 minutes), Boston is 50 miles north, Mystic, Connecticut and the casinos are 50 miles west, and the Berkshires are about 2.5 hours away. Many RVezy hosts offer 100 to 150 free miles per day, with extra miles billed at $0.30 to $0.50. If you're planning a bigger loop (Acadia National Park is around 6 hours northeast), look for listings with RV rental with unlimited mileage to keep costs predictable.

Where are the best campgrounds near Providence, RI?

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Providence. A few favorites: Bowdish Lake Camping Area and George Washington Camping Area in Glocester (about 30 minutes northwest) sit on Bowdish Reservoir with swimming and hiking; Holiday Acres Campground in Glocester offers full hookups about 30 minutes from downtown; Wawaloam Campground in Richmond is a family hit with a pool and splash pad; Burlingame State Park in Charlestown has 700-plus wooded sites near the coast; and Fishermen's Memorial State Park in Narragansett puts you within walking distance of the beach and the Block Island ferry. Pro tip: state campgrounds book through Rhode Island State Parks on ReserveAmerica, so grab summer weekends the moment reservations open.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Providence?

Late spring through early fall is prime time for a Providence RV trip, with the sweet spot running from mid-May through mid-October. June through August brings warm 75 to 85°F days perfect for Narragansett beaches and Newport sailing, while September and early October deliver crisp 60 to 70°F afternoons, fewer crowds, and stunning fall foliage along the Blackstone Valley. Rhode Island state campgrounds typically open in early April and close around Columbus Day. Winter RV travel is limited here, with many campgrounds closed and overnight lows often below freezing. Insider tip: book your rig for late September for the Newport International Boat Show or the Bowen's Wharf Seafood Festival, you'll get summer-like weather without summer prices.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay starting out in Providence?

You'll do great, first time renting an RV in Providence is more common than you'd think, and the support is built in. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, propane, and the toilet system, so you're not figuring it out alone in a parking lot. If big-city driving makes you nervous, ask your host to deliver to your campground, common drop-off spots include Bowdish Lake and Burlingame State Park. For your first miles behind the wheel, take Route 6 or Route 146 instead of merging straight onto I-95 downtown. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer for your first trip, they drive like a large van.

What happens if something breaks down on my Rhode Island RV trip?

You are covered. 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so help is one call away whether you are on the Newport Pell Bridge or parked at George Washington Camping Area. Roadside covers items like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. For issues inside the RV (a fussy generator, a sticky slide-out, an AC that will not kick on during a July heat wave), message your host first, most are local to the Providence area and respond quickly with a fix or a service appointment. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip if you need help coordinating anything.

Can I take my Providence RV rental into Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Providence. Most RVezy hosts welcome trips into Massachusetts (Cape Cod, the Berkshires, Boston suburbs), Connecticut (Mystic, the Litchfield Hills), New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, all covered under your RVezy protection plan. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance terms, so message the host directly through the listing before booking if you are eyeing a run up to Quebec or the Maritimes. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular loops from Providence include the full Cape Cod ring, the Maine coast to Acadia, and a Vermont fall-foliage circuit.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Providence RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable on an RV trip, but it's easy to plan for around Providence. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (mpg), Class B campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 mpg while towing). Rhode Island gas prices generally track the New England average, with stations along Route 6 and outside the I-95 corridor often a few cents cheaper than downtown. A 300-mile weekend loop to Newport, Mystic, and back in a Class C usually runs $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into Connecticut where prices can spike, and use GasBuddy to spot deals near East Providence and Warwick.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Providence?

For the best campgrounds near Providence, earlier is always better, especially for summer weekends. Rhode Island State Parks (Burlingame, Fishermen's Memorial, George Washington, Charlestown Breachway, East Beach) release reservations through ReserveAmerica, and popular oceanfront sites can fill within minutes of opening for July and August. Aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for peak summer, and 2 to 4 weeks ahead for shoulder season. Private parks like Wawaloam, Holiday Acres, and Bowdish Lake often have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: if a weekend looks sold out, use a cancellation alert service or check the ReserveAmerica site Monday mornings, that's when 48-hour cancellation windows release fresh inventory.

What are driving conditions like in and around Providence?

Providence is very manageable in an RV once you know a few local quirks. Downtown has tight one-way streets and a few low clearances (especially under I-95 near the Providence Place mall and along South Main Street), so larger Class A motorhomes are better routed around the city via Route 146, Route 6, or I-295. The Newport Pell Bridge and Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge are RV-friendly with normal lane widths but get windy, take it slow. Summer brings beach traffic on Route 4 and Route 1 toward Narragansett on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. Insider tip: leave Providence for Newport before 9 a.m. on weekends, and you'll glide right over the bridges with ocean views.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Providence?

Campgrounds near Providence range from full-resort to rustic, so you can pick what suits your style. Private parks like Wawaloam, Bowdish Lake, and Holiday Acres offer full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, sewer), Wi-Fi, pools, laundry, and dump stations. State campgrounds vary: George Washington Camping Area offers basic sites with shower facilities, Fishermen's Memorial offers water and electric, while Charlestown Breachway is dry camping for self-contained RVs only (no hookups). Most state parks have on-site dump stations and potable water fills you can use on arrival or departure. Pro tip: if you are booking Charlestown Breachway for the ocean views, make sure your rental has a generator and full fresh water tank, your host can confirm both before you book.

What's typically inside an RV rental from Providence?

Providence-area RV rentals come well-equipped for a comfortable New England trip. Most listings include real beds (a queen in the master plus a convertible dinette or bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, heat, and seatbelted travel seats for everyone aboard. Class C motorhomes and larger trailers typically include a TV, and many hosts include a generator for off-grid stops at Charlestown Breachway. Wi-Fi varies by listing, some include a hotspot, others rely on your phone. Each RVezy listing spells out exactly what is included, and you can message the host to confirm specifics like a coffee maker, beach chairs, or a grill before you book your Rhode Island RV trip.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

RVezy listings in Providence include a range of useful add-ons that make your trip smoother. Common extras (with typical fees): delivery and setup ($2 to $5 per mile or a flat rate to popular spots like Newport, Burlingame, or Cape Cod), generator usage ($3 to $5 per hour beyond included hours), linens and kitchen kits ($50 to $100), and items like bike racks, kayaks, and outdoor furniture. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per day, with additional miles at $0.30 to $0.50 each, and some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages, great for a Maine or Vermont loop. Pickup is typically at the host's home in the Providence metro (Cranston, Warwick, East Providence, Pawtucket) with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Confirm pickup and return times when you book.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and handled entirely through RVezy, with no cash or side payments to your host. You pay your rental total securely online when you book, with the cost broken down clearly (nightly rate, service fee, taxes, and any add-ons). A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card shortly before pickup, separate from your booking payment. The amount depends on the RV and your protection plan level, but commonly ranges from $500 to $1,500. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition (no new damage, tanks emptied, fuel returned per the listing), the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: take a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, it makes any post-trip questions easy to resolve.
