KJ was a great host. Kind, responsive, and attentive throughout the process. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made pickup and drop-off quick and easy. I especially appreciated that he didn’t charge unnecessary generator fees, which let us focus on enjoying the trip instead of worrying about usage time. Overall a smooth experience and I would definitely rent from him again.

The host/owner is great and was responsive to multiple messages and calls. I had some problems with the outlets and heat, but some of the problems were user error and KJ will look into the intermittent electrical problem. Nothing impacted the fun factor of my short trip to Zion National Park, which was spectacular this time of year. The van made visiting the park and staying at a campground so enjoyable. We had a nice home base but could easily pull over to enjoy the views and make a hot meal or sandwich. Total game changer. The van would be tight for more than two people but it was perfect for me. It drives like an SUV, not like a big camper or RV. I'd happily rent from KJ again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Kanab, UT

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Kanab, UT?

Great news: RV rental in Kanab is one of the smartest ways to experience Utah's national park country on a budget. On RVezy, you'll typically find campervans starting around $90 to $150 per night, travel trailers from $100 to $200, and Class C motorhomes from $175 to $300 per night, depending on season and size. Prices peak from April through October when Zion and Bryce Canyon crowds arrive, so booking a shoulder season trip in March or November can shave 20 to 30 percent off your total. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Kanab?

A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Kanab, Utah, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or RV endorsement required. Utah allows standard Class D license holders to operate motorhomes and tow travel trailers for personal use, even the big Class A rigs. Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the paperwork is, you can be on Highway 89 heading to Coral Pink Sand Dunes the same afternoon you pick up your rental.

What protection comes with my Kanab RV rental?

Every RV rental in Kanab booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on the red rocks instead of the what-ifs. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), and coverage helps with physical damage to the RV during your trip. Roadside assistance is built in, so if you get a flat on Highway 89 between Kanab and Zion's east entrance, help is one call away. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers at booking and pick the level that matches your comfort, especially if it's your first time renting an RV in Kanab.

What if I need to cancel my Kanab RV trip?

RVezy uses a standardized cancellation policy that is set by RVezy, not by individual hosts, so the terms are consistent across every Kanab listing. The refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and the full policy details are available in the RVezy Help Center. If a host cancels your booking, RVezy will help you find a replacement RV or issue a refund. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for your Kanab RV trip, and review the cancellation policy in the Help Center before you confirm so you know exactly where you stand.

Can I bring my dog on a Kanab RV rental?

Yes, Kanab is one of the most dog-friendly towns in the country, home to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and pet-friendly RV rental in Kanab is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see motorhomes, travel trailers, and campervans where your pup is welcome. Many Kanab hosts charge a small pet fee, typically $25 to $75. Your dog can join you at Best Friends tours, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and most Bureau of Land Management (BLM) trails around town. Zion and Bryce Canyon restrict pets on nearly all trails (Zion's Pa'rus Trail is the exception), so plan dog-friendly options like Kanab's Squaw Trail instead.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Kanab?

Yes, RV delivery in Kanab is offered by many RVezy hosts, and it's a fantastic option if you're flying into Las Vegas or St. George and don't want to drive a big rig through the desert. Your host will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite, hook it up to power and water, and walk you through every system before handing you the keys. Popular delivery spots include Kanab RV Corral, Hitch-N-Post RV Park, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Delivery fees vary by distance, usually a flat fee plus per-mile rate. Pro tip: use the Delivery filter on RVezy and message the host with your campground name to get an exact quote before booking.

Where are the best campgrounds near Kanab for an RV?

Kanab is spoiled for RV camping options, and you can usually snag a great spot even in shoulder seasons. Top picks include Kanab RV Corral right in town with full hookups and walking distance to restaurants, Hitch-N-Post RV Park (a longtime local favorite on Highway 89), J & J RV Park near downtown, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park Campground about 20 minutes west for full hookups under starry skies. For a tribal-run gem with unbeatable pricing, the Kaibab Paiute RV Park on the AZ border offers full hookups without resort fees. Free dispersed BLM camping is available at Hog Canyon and along BLM Road #71 just minutes from town, with a 14-day stay limit. Book Coral Pink and Watchman (Zion) at least 4 to 6 months ahead.

When is the best time to visit Kanab in an RV?

The sweet spot for an RV trip in Kanab is mid-March through May and mid-September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80°F range and the crowds at Zion and Bryce thin out. Summer (June through August) brings highs of 95 to 100°F plus afternoon monsoon thunderstorms (July to mid-September), so plan early morning drives and crank that RV air conditioning. Winter is genuinely magical here, with daytime temps in the 40s and 50s, snow-dusted red rocks, and full availability at most campgrounds, just confirm your RV has a furnace and heated tanks. Pro tip: book a late-September Kanab RV trip and you'll hit ideal weather, golden cottonwoods, and lower rental rates.

I'm a first-time renter, will I know how to operate the RV?

You're in great hands, every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, awning, and dump procedures. Most Kanab hosts spend 30 to 60 minutes making sure you're confident before you drive away, and many send video tutorials in advance. You can also message your host anytime during your trip with questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support team is a quick call away. First time renting an RV? Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Kanab for easier handling on Highway 89's twisty sections near Zion. Pro tip: do a short practice loop around town before heading out to the parks so you feel the brakes and turning radius.

What happens if I break down during my Kanab RV trip?

You're never stranded, every booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one call away whether you're at the Grand Canyon North Rim or out on a dirt road. Common calls include flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and minor mechanical issues, all dispatched directly to your location. Cell coverage is solid in Kanab and along Highway 89 but spotty in backcountry areas like House Rock Valley Road, so download offline maps before you leave town. If something needs repair mid-trip, loop in your host and RVezy support together to coordinate next steps. Pro tip: note the RV's plate number and VIN at pickup so dispatch can find you faster.

Can I take my Kanab RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most Kanab RV rentals, which is perfect because some of the best road trips from Kanab cross right into Arizona (Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Page) and Nevada (Valley of Fire, Las Vegas). Travel throughout the lower 48 is typically fine, just confirm with your host before booking long out-of-region trips. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals, as insurance and protection coverage don't extend there. Cross-border travel to Canada may be possible depending on the host and insurance, message the host directly to confirm. Pro tip: a classic 7-day loop from Kanab hits Bryce, Capitol Reef, Moab/Arches, and back, all without leaving Utah and totally road-trip-ready.
cbp.gov/travel

What's the fuel cost like for an RV trip from Kanab?

Budgeting fuel for your Kanab RV trip is straightforward: campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, Class A's run 6 to 10 MPG, and a tow vehicle with travel trailer averages 10 to 14 MPG. Gas prices in Kanab typically run slightly above the Utah average, so fill up in Hurricane or St. George when heading west toward Zion, or in Page, AZ heading east, both usually cheaper. A typical 5-day Kanab loop covering Zion, Bryce, and the North Rim (about 400 miles) runs $120 to $200 in fuel for a mid-size motorhome. Pro tip: download GasBuddy and plan fill-ups before entering park areas where prices spike.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Kanab?

For the best campgrounds near Kanab, book as early as you can, especially for spring and fall trips. Watchman Campground inside Zion opens reservations 6 months in advance on Recreation.gov and sells out within minutes. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is bookable up to 4 months ahead through Utah State Parks' system and fills fast on weekends. Bryce Canyon's North Campground and Sunset Campground take reservations through Recreation.gov as well. In-town RV parks like Kanab RV Corral and Hitch-N-Post fill 2 to 3 months ahead for peak season but often have last-minute openings midweek. Pro tip: if everything's booked, secure a free dispersed BLM site at Hog Canyon just minutes from downtown, first-come, first-served with a 14-day limit.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2742

What are the driving conditions like around Kanab?

Driving an RV around Kanab is genuinely manageable, Highway 89 is wide, well-paved, and built for big rigs. The one section that demands attention is the Mount Carmel Highway (SR-9) heading into Zion's east entrance, where the historic Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel requires RVs over 11'4" tall or 7'10" wide to pay a $15 tunnel escort fee and use both lanes. Watch for switchbacks on the climb to Bryce and sudden flash flood warnings in slot canyon areas July through September. Winter occasionally brings snow at higher elevations (Bryce sits at 8,000+ feet), so check Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) road conditions before heading out. Pro tip: drive between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to avoid low-light wildlife crossings, mule deer are very active at dawn and dusk on Highway 89.
udot.utah.gov/connect/public/road-weather-alerts/

How does the summer heat in Kanab affect an RV trip?

Summer in Kanab is hot but very doable with smart planning, daytime highs hit 95 to 100°F in July and August, with cool nights dropping into the 60s. Most RVs on RVezy come with roof-mounted air conditioning that works great on shore power at campgrounds; if you're boondocking, you'll need the generator running or solar/battery upgrades. Drive in the morning before 11 a.m., park in shade by afternoon, and use the awning. Hydrate constantly, the dry desert air pulls moisture out fast. Afternoon monsoon thunderstorms (mid-July through mid-September) can bring flash floods, so avoid slot canyons and dry washes when storms threaten. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season Kanab RV trip in late April or early October for 75°F days and zero AC drama.
weather.gov/safety/heat

Where can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Kanab?

You've got plenty of options for dump stations and potable water around Kanab. Most full-hookup RV parks (Kanab RV Corral, Hitch-N-Post, J & J RV Park, Grand Plateau RV Resort) include dump and fresh water with your stay. For travelers passing through, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park offers a dump station for a small fee, and both North Campground in Bryce Canyon and the Zion area have public dump stations (Watchman dump station is open year-round for a fee). In-town gas stations like Maverik sometimes offer fresh water fills. Pro tip: dump and refill before heading to remote spots like the Grand Canyon North Rim or Lake Powell beach camping, services thin out fast once you leave Kanab's Highway 89 corridor.
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

What's included inside a typical Kanab RV rental?

Kanab RV rentals come ready to roll, you'll typically find a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on the rig, heating and air conditioning, dining area, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Most have a generator for off-grid power, propane for cooking and heat, fresh water tanks, and outdoor amenities like an awning and exterior speakers. Many hosts include linens, kitchenware, camp chairs, and an outdoor grill, perfect for evenings under Kanab's famously dark night sky. WiFi and TV are listing-specific, so check the amenities tab. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and amenities like "generator" or "solar" if you're planning dispersed camping at Hog Canyon or House Rock Valley.
nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/north-rim-campgrounds.htm

What add-ons and pickup options are available for Kanab rentals?

Hosts in Kanab offer all kinds of helpful add-ons to make your trip easier: bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs, portable grills, generators, paddleboards, e-bikes, and even pre-stocked groceries. Pickup is usually at the host's home or a meeting point in Kanab, and delivery to local campgrounds like Coral Pink Sand Dunes or Kanab RV Corral is common (delivery fees vary by distance). Mileage policies are set by each host, look on the listing for the daily allowance and overage rate. Pro tip: bundle delivery + setup + linens at booking and you'll arrive to a fully-prepared rig with the awning out and beds made, the easiest possible start to your Kanab adventure.

How does the security deposit and payment work for a Kanab RV rental?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure, you pay directly through the platform with a credit or debit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit is held separately (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) shortly before your trip starts. The deposit isn't charged unless there's damage, excess cleaning, or policy violations, and it's released back to your card after a smooth return. Never pay a host outside the platform, doing so removes your renter protection coverage. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off with your host (timestamped on your phone), it's the easiest way to document the RV's condition and ensure your Kanab RV rental deposit comes back fast.
