Can't say enough good things about Scott. When you rent from someone else, you want to feel confident that you're getting what you asked for and will have help/support if needed. Its not just that Scott was good when things were good, its how awesome he was whenever there was an issue or question that really sets him above all others in our book. Not only did he jump in to help us when our original host cancelled last minute, but when we had an early issue he immediately took action to help and personally came to check and make sure it was resolved properly. Amazing, caring host and we would definitely book with him again for future RV needs.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Germantown, WI?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Germantown for nearly every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. Wisconsin only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for recreational vehicles longer than 45 feet, and almost no rentals on the platform come close to that length. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy will verify your ID securely through the booking process. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home license. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork really is.

I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will do great, and you will not be figuring it out alone. First time renting an RV in Germantown is genuinely beginner friendly because every RVezy host gives you a hands on orientation at pickup: how to extend the slide outs, fill fresh water, dump the tanks, run the generator, and operate the propane stove. You can message the host with questions before you book, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a tap away during your trip. For your first drive, the wide, flat roads around Germantown and County Highway Q are forgiving practice before you head toward Kettle Moraine. Most first timers say the hardest part was just deciding which RV to pick.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?

Help is always a phone call away. Every RV rental in Germantown booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, mechanical breakdowns, and towing across Wisconsin. If something feels off, message your host first since they know the rig best and can often walk you through a quick fix over the phone. For anything bigger, RVezy support coordinates a service call wherever you are, whether that is a campsite at Greenbush Recreation Area or a roadside pullout on I-43. Save the support number in your phone before pickup and you will never feel stranded.

Can I take my Germantown RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

You've got plenty of room to roam. Most RVezy hosts in Germantown welcome interstate travel across the US, making routes like Germantown to Chicago, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, or Minnesota's North Shore totally doable. Cross-border travel into Canada (think Thunder Bay or Toronto via Sault Ste. Marie) is allowed by many hosts when you message in advance so they can confirm insurance coverage extends north. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance won't cover it. Always confirm your route with the host before booking. Pro tip: a Wisconsin to Door County to Mackinac Bridge loop is a classic 7-day RV road trip from Germantown.

How much will fuel cost for my Germantown RV trip?

Fuel is one of the easier line items to plan for. Wisconsin gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, and Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and larger Class A rigs come in around 7 to 10 MPG. For a 300-mile weekend loop from Germantown to Door County and back in a Class C, budget roughly $90 to $120 in fuel. Costco in Menomonee Falls and the Kwik Trip stations along Highway 41 and Highway 145 reliably offer some of the lower prices in the area. Top off in Germantown before heading north since rural stations cost more.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Germantown?

Earlier is always smarter. Wisconsin DNR campgrounds, including all units of Kettle Moraine State Forest, open reservations up to 11 months in advance at wisconsin.goingtocamp.com, and summer weekends at Pike Lake, Long Lake, and Mauthe Lake regularly fill within hours of opening. For July and August holiday weekends, book the moment the 11-month window opens. Shoulder season (May, September, October) usually has openings even a few weeks out. Private parks like Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in Milwaukee can be reserved through ReserveAmerica. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for opening day and have your equipment length and arrival date ready to type fast.

What are the driving conditions like around Germantown?

Driving is genuinely easy here, which is great for RV newbies. Germantown sits along Highway 41 and Highway 145 with wide lanes, gentle grades, and no mountain passes, an ideal launching pad for a Wisconsin RV trip. Watch for rush-hour congestion on I-41 and I-894 heading into Milwaukee on weekdays from 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM. Winter brings snow and occasional ice from November through March, so plan for shoulder-season or summer driving if you're new to large vehicles. Deer are common at dawn and dusk on rural roads near Kettle Moraine, so slow down and use high beams when traffic allows. The terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Germantown?

Wisconsin campgrounds are well equipped for RVers. Most state campgrounds at Kettle Moraine (Pike Lake, Long Lake, Mauthe Lake) offer 20/30/50-amp electric sites, potable water fill stations, sanitary dump stations, flush toilets and showers at the larger loops, and vault toilets at rustic sites. Full hookups (water, electric, and sewer at the site) are less common in state parks but standard at private parks like Wisconsin State Fair RV Park and Cedar Valley Campground. You'll find dump stations at most DNR campgrounds, and Pilot or Flying J truck stops along I-41 also offer dump and fill services. Pro tip: fill fresh water before heading deep into the Northern Unit where rural fills are limited.

What features come with a typical Germantown RV rental?

You'll be impressed by how complete these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental Germantown listing comes with a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating with seatbelts, climate control, and propane for cooking and heat. Most include linens, kitchenware, and outdoor camp chairs, while many offer add-ons like generators, Wi-Fi hotspots, bike racks, kayaks, and outdoor grills for a small fee. Campervan rental Germantown options (Class B) are more compact but include the essentials. Filter by Sleeps count and amenities on RVezy. Pro tip: ask about a starter kit so you arrive at camp ready to relax.
travelwisconsin.com/places-to-stay/rv-campgrounds

How do pickup, mileage, and add ons work for my booking?

Booking is flexible and clearly spelled out before you pay. Each listing shows the host's mileage policy (typically 100 to 150 included miles per day, with a per mile fee beyond that, or RV rental with unlimited mileage as an upgrade), pickup and dropoff times, and available add ons like generator hours, bedding kits, kitchen packages, bike racks, and outdoor gear. Pickup is usually at the host's address in or near Germantown, but delivery to your campground or home is available from many hosts. You will do a walkthrough at pickup and a quick inspection at return. Pro tip: book add ons during the reservation rather than at pickup since popular items like generators and Wi-Fi go fast in summer.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Germantown%2C%20Wisconsin

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card at booking (never directly to the host), which protects your trip and locks in your reservation. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup, with the amount shown clearly on the listing (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class). The deposit is released after dropoff once the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition as pickup. Avoid issues by taking timestamped photos at pickup and return, refilling the fuel and propane per the agreement, and returning with empty waste tanks if required. That simple routine keeps your deposit refund quick and stress free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Will an RV from Germantown handle Wisconsin's cold weather?

Yes, with the right rig and a little prep, Wisconsin's shoulder seasons and even winter trips can be magical. Many Germantown hosts list four season or winter ready RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, propane furnaces, and 30/50-amp shore power compatibility, perfect for chilly nights at Pike Lake in October or a snowy weekend near Holy Hill. Use the search filters and message hosts directly to confirm winter readiness before booking. Pack layered bedding, RV antifreeze for the plumbing if you are going below freezing, and a heated water hose if you will be plugged in. Pro tip: fall color trips through Kettle Moraine in mid October are stunning and far less crowded than summer weekends.
