Late spring through early fall, roughly May through September, offers the best RV conditions with warm temperatures, open beaches, and full campground services. July and August bring peak crowds and busy boat ramps, so midweek arrivals help. Shoulder months like May, September, and early October provide cooler nights, easier reservations, and good fishing without the summer boat traffic.

Alum Creek Beach is the largest inland beach in Ohio's state park system, stretching roughly 3,000 feet along the reservoir's east shore. The swim area has sand, shade pavilions, restrooms, and a large RV-friendly parking lot.
The 3,387-acre reservoir permits unlimited-horsepower motorboats, making it a regional hub for waterskiing, wakeboarding, and sailing. Multiple public launch ramps with trailer parking are scattered around the lake.
The west-side singletrack system offers roughly 35 miles of purpose-built mountain bike trails through rolling hardwood forest. Trailhead lots are paved and can accommodate trucks and tow vehicles.
Hollenback Trail is an easy lakeside walking route popular with campers and day users. It links picnic areas, scenic overlooks of the reservoir, and the campground.
Alum Creek Reservoir is a nationally known saugeye fishery and also produces largemouth bass, crappie, and channel catfish. Shoreline access, fishing piers, and boat-based angling are all available.
A dedicated bridle trail system on the west side of the park offers miles of wooded riding with a staging area suitable for horse trailers. The area is shared in places with hikers.
An 18-hole disc golf course winds through woods and meadows near the campground. Parking is accessible to tow vehicles and smaller RVs.
Was a quick 3 day weekend. It couldn’t have been easier. Mark was very accessible and helpful. Would definitely recommend renting from him.

Alum Creek State Park, OH, United States
Alum Creek State Park sits about 20 miles north of downtown Columbus via I-71 and US-36/SR-37, a drive of roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. From Cleveland, the park is about 135 miles south via I-71, around 2 hours and 15 minutes, and from Cincinnati about 120 miles northeast, roughly 2 hours. The terrain is gentle central Ohio farmland with no mountain passes or tunnels, though RV drivers should watch for low-clearance rural bridges off main highways and use GPS routing intended for RVs. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is John Glenn Columbus International Airport, about 25 miles south of the park.
