Late fall through spring, roughly November to April, is the most comfortable window for RV travel, with mild temperatures, low humidity, and fewer biting insects. Spring break and winter snowbird season bring heavy demand for beachfront campsites, so reserve early. Summer is hot, humid, and busy with beachgoers, and it overlaps with the Atlantic hurricane season from June through November. Shoulder months of October and May often balance warm beach weather with smaller crowds.

Anastasia Beach is a wide, hard-packed Atlantic beach that stretches for about four miles along the park's eastern edge. RV campers can reach the beach on foot from the campground via a short boardwalk through the dunes. Swimming, surf fishing, and beach walking are the main draws.
Salt Run is a protected tidal lagoon ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing. An on-site concession rents paddlecraft and sailboards seasonally, and the calm water is well suited to beginners. Shorebirds and dolphins are often seen from the water.
The Ancient Dunes Nature Trail is a short interpretive loop through maritime hammock and relict sand dunes. The trail highlights live oaks, saw palmetto, and the ecology of the barrier island. Flat terrain and a trailhead near the campground make it easy for RV campers to access.
The Coquina Quarry is the original source of the coquina stone used to build nearby Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas. A short interpretive walk leads visitors past the historic quarry pits within the park. It is an easy stop that pairs well with a day in St. Augustine. nps.gov/articles/nps-geodiversity-atlas-fort-matanzas-national-monument-florida.htm
Anastasia State Park is one of Northeast Florida's best-known surf spots thanks to consistent Atlantic swell. The A Street and park beach breaks are popular with local surfers, and boards can be rented nearby. Parking for vehicles is available near the beach access points.
The park's mix of dune, marsh, and lagoon habitats supports shorebirds, wading birds, and migratory songbirds. Osprey, pelicans, and herons are common, and nesting areas are roped off seasonally to protect shorebirds. Salt Run and the tidal flats are top viewing spots.
Historic downtown St. Augustine sits just across the Bridge of Lions, a short drive from the park. Built by the Spanish to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument preserves the oldest masonry fortification in the continental United States. RV drivers should park on the mainland or at the park and walk or shuttle into the narrow historic streets. nps.gov/state/fl/index.htm
It was a good expirience.

Anastasia State Park, FL, United States
The park sits on Anastasia Island just across the Bridge of Lions from downtown St. Augustine, about 40 miles south of Jacksonville (roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive on I-95) and about 100 miles north of Orlando (around 1 hour 45 minutes). RV drivers typically exit I-95 at SR-207 or SR-16 and follow signs to A1A; the Bridge of Lions is a modern bascule bridge with no unusual RV restrictions, but downtown St. Augustine streets are narrow and best avoided in larger rigs. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), with Orlando International (MCO) and Daytona Beach International (DAB) as alternatives.
