Blanco State Park, TX, United States
Blanco State Park sits in the town of Blanco on US Highway 281, about 50 miles north of San Antonio and roughly 50 miles west of Austin, each about an hour by RV. The easiest route from either city is via I-35 to US 290 or US 281, both of which are RV-friendly four-lane roads without tunnels or steep mountain passes. Drivers should watch for low-water crossings and flash-flood warnings on Hill Country side roads after heavy rain, and stick to US 281 for large rigs. The closest major airports for fly-and-rent trips are Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) and San Antonio International (SAT).
Late spring and early fall are generally the most comfortable times to visit, with warm days, cooler nights, and lower humidity than the peak of summer. Summer weekends bring the biggest crowds because of river swimming and tubing, so reservations fill quickly from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Shoulder months like April, May, October, and early November offer pleasant weather for hiking, birding, and fishing with fewer people. Winter visits are mild by northern standards but river swimming is typically off the table.

Swimming along the dammed stretch of the Blanco River is the park's signature activity. Stone dams and gentle pools make it accessible for families, with day-use parking close to the water.
Tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are popular on the calm river inside the park. Rentals are typically available near the park from local outfitters in the town of Blanco.
Anglers can fish for Guadalupe bass, catfish, and sunfish in the Blanco River, with rainbow trout stocked in winter by Texas Parks and Wildlife. A Texas fishing license is not required when fishing from shore inside any Texas state park.
The Caswell Nature Trail is a short, easy loop along the river and through streamside woodland. It is a good option for a quick leg stretch from the RV loops.
The park's picnic areas feature stone pavilions, walls, and dams built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Large pecan trees provide shade along the riverbanks.
The riparian corridor attracts a variety of Hill Country bird species, including painted buntings, vireos, and waterbirds. Quiet early mornings near the river are the most productive.
The town square of Blanco sits just outside the park and features historic buildings, small shops, restaurants, and the former Blanco County Courthouse. It is an easy walk or short drive from the campground.
So easy that all was set up upon our arrival and ready for us! Great trailer and responses from owner was quick and informative.

We had a fantastic time camping with this camper. It was perfect for my family of 4 and really we could have had more. We will definitely be renting from Matt again. He was prompt with the setup and pick up and very easy to get ahold of. I highly recommend using them!

Kristen was a fantastic host. We arrived to everything set up and hooked up. The RV was clean and clean linens and towels were on the beds. The outdoor kitchen was perfect for breakfast and the outside fridge was used constantly. Communication was amazing. We had a flight cancelled and Kristen made it work so we didn't miss a thing.
