April and May bring mild temperatures, blooming dogwoods, and full access to the lake, swim area, and trails before the humid peak of summer. September and October are excellent shoulder months with cooler nights, fall color in the hardwood canopy, and lighter campground demand. Winter stays are possible, but expect cold rain, occasional freezes, and reduced services at some facilities.

Chickasaw State Park, TN, United States
Chickasaw State Park lies along State Route 100 in West Tennessee, about 18 miles south of Jackson, TN, roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes east of Memphis, and about 2 hours and 45 minutes southwest of Nashville. RV drivers typically approach via I-40 to Jackson then south on US-45 and SR-100, a route with no major tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades, though the final two-lane state highways have rolling terrain and tree-lined shoulders. Watch for low-clearance branches on interior park roads and tight turns near campground loops. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Memphis International Airport (MEM), with McKellar-Sipes Regional in Jackson as a small regional alternative.
