Chino Hills State Park, CA, United States
Chino Hills State Park is located in Southern California approximately 10 miles north of Corona and about 45 minutes to one hour from the Los Angeles area. The nearest airport is John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana (23 miles), with alternatives at Ontario International (33 miles) and Los Angeles International (47 miles) for fly-and-rent visitors. RV travelers should note that access roads are paved and generally suitable for RVs up to 28 feet, but the park closes after rainfall exceeding 0.25 inches due to soil conditions. Additionally, gates lock at closing time (5 p.m. October-March, 7 p.m. April-September) with no vehicle access in or out of the campground unless arranged in advance.
October through May offers the most comfortable conditions for RV camping and hiking, with mild temperatures and scenic vistas. Spring (March through May) is particularly spectacular for wildflower displays across the rolling hills. Avoid mid-June through August when daytime temperatures exceed 90 degrees. Note that the park closes for 48 hours after heavy rainfall (over 0.25 inches) and during extreme wind events or fire danger warnings, so check conditions before planning a visit in winter and spring when storms are more common.
