The park's saltwater beach on Greenwich Cove is the main summer attraction at Goddard Memorial State Park. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season, and changing facilities and restrooms are nearby. Large paved lots close to the beach accommodate RVs for day use.
A 9-hole public golf course sits within the park. The course is walkable and beginner-friendly, with a pro shop and rentals on site. RV day parking is available near the clubhouse.
Goddard is one of the best-known horseback riding destinations in Rhode Island, with an extensive network of bridle paths winding through the forested portions of the park. Trailer parking is available in a designated equestrian area. The trails are also open to hikers.
Miles of wide, shaded carriage paths loop through the park's reforested woodlands and open fields. The flat, well-graded surfaces make them suitable for casual walkers, families, and runners. Several trailheads have paved parking suitable for smaller RVs.
Visitors can fish from the shoreline along Greenwich Bay or launch small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards from the park's boat ramp. The bay is popular for flounder, striped bass, and bluefish in season. A Rhode Island saltwater fishing license is required for adults.
Goddard's open fields, picnic pavilions, and waterfront bandstand host family gatherings and a popular summer concert series. Numerous charcoal grills and picnic tables are spread throughout the park. Group pavilions can be reserved through Rhode Island State Parks.
In winters with sufficient snow, the carriage paths and open fields become a local favorite for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The park remains open for day use year-round, though most seasonal amenities are closed. Plowing of internal roads can be limited after storms.
The RV was just what we ordered. Perfectly happy with it. The first day or two we had some questions which Scott addressed. He is very accessible. And very straightforward.

Goddard Memorial State Park, RI, United States
Goddard Memorial State Park sits in Warwick, about 15 minutes (9 miles) south of downtown Providence via I-95 and Route 1, and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes from Boston. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, about 15 minutes away. Access roads are standard suburban routes without mountain passes or major RV restrictions, though the park's internal roads are narrow and tree-lined, so drivers of larger Class A motorhomes should use caution when turning and parking. Watch for low branches along the shaded carriage drives.
