Late fall through early spring, roughly November to March, is the best window for RV travel thanks to mild temperatures, low humidity, and the arrival of wintering whooping cranes and other migratory birds. Spring shoulder months bring warm weather and active fishing but also higher occupancy during Texas school breaks. Summer is hot and humid with strong Gulf sun, so bayfront sites with breezes are preferable. Hurricane season runs June through November, so RV travelers should monitor Gulf weather closely.

Goose Island State Park, TX, United States
The park is about 12 miles north of Rockport and roughly 35 miles or 45 minutes northeast of Corpus Christi via State Highway 35. From Houston it is about 200 miles, a drive of three and a half to four hours on US 59 and SH 35. Corpus Christi International Airport is the closest fly-and-rent option, with San Antonio International around 170 miles inland as an alternative. RV drivers should note the narrow causeway onto the Lamar Peninsula and low-hanging oak canopies along park roads that can limit clearance for taller rigs.
