Killbear Provincial Park, ON, Canada
Killbear Provincial Park is located 275 kilometres north of Toronto, approximately a 3-hour drive via Highway 400 and Highway 559. The nearest city is Parry Sound, about 11 kilometres away, where supplies and services are available. Fly-in visitors typically use Toronto Pearson International Airport, 225 kilometres south, followed by a 3-4 hour RV rental drive to the park. The park accommodates RVs up to 32 feet; confirm access in advance if towing larger equipment.
Late June through August is ideal for RV camping at Killbear, with warm weather, full park amenities, and water temperatures reaching 18-20°C perfect for swimming and boating. Winter camping operates January through March in the Beaver Dams campground area, attracting cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Note that mosquitoes and blackflies are prominent from late May through early July, and July-August can experience humidity and thunderstorms. Fall offers fewer crowds with cooler temperatures and changing foliage.

This easy 1.6-kilometre loop through Killbear's Canadian Shield landscape takes about 40 minutes and leads hikers across rock outcrops to rocky points and sandy beaches along Georgian Bay. A 2-kilometre semicircular beach in a sheltered cove offers pristine water, a gentle slope ideal for families, and sandy conditions comfortable for all swimming levels.
