Late June through early September is the peak window, when warm, dry weather brings reliable swimming, boating, and waterskiing conditions on Lake Chelan. July and August are busiest and campsite reservations fill months in advance, so shoulder seasons in May, early June, and September offer cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and easier RV site availability. The campground typically closes through the winter months, so RVers should confirm the seasonal opening dates before planning a trip outside the main season.

The park features a designated swimming area with a sandy beach on Lake Chelan. Warm summer water temperatures make it popular with families, and the beach is within walking distance of most RV sites.
The park operates a public boat launch directly on Lake Chelan, giving RVers easy access to one of the deepest lakes in the United States. There are boat launches from Manson, Chelan and Lake Chelan State Park, making it a central spot for waterskiing, wakeboarding, and cruising the lower basin. fs.usda.gov/r06/okanogan-wenatchee/recreation/prince-creek-campground
Lake Chelan supports year-round fishing for kokanee, lake trout (Mackinaw), smallmouth bass, and burbot. Anglers can fish from shore within the park or launch small craft from the park boat ramp with a valid Washington fishing license.
RVers can day-park in Chelan or Field's Point Landing and take a passenger ferry up-lake to remote Stehekin. The majority of the Chelan Ranger District hiking and camping areas are only accessible by personal boat or ferry, and the Lady of the Lake provides up-lake travel from Chelan to Stehekin with stops available at Fields Point, Prince Creek, Moore Point, and Lucerne. fs.usda.gov/recarea/okawen/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=57317&actid=29
Expansive lawns shaded by mature trees line the waterfront for picnicking, kite flying, and relaxing lake views. Multiple picnic tables, shelters, and restroom facilities are within walking distance of the RV loop.
A scenic drive up Chelan Butte Road, located a short drive from the park, offers panoramic views of Lake Chelan and the Columbia River valley. The graveled upper section is best for tow vehicles or dinghies rather than large RVs.
The Lake Chelan AVA hosts dozens of wineries within a short drive of the park, plus restaurants, shops, and waterfront parks in the town of Chelan. Most tasting rooms have standard auto parking, so RVers typically visit by tow vehicle.
About 10 miles farther up South Lakeshore Road, Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park offers an additional boat launch and trailhead access to up-lake recreation. Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park is a popular boat launch for accessing many up lake recreation sites via personal boat. fs.usda.gov/recarea/okawen/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=57317&actid=29
Stayed in the camper for two nights at a campground just outside Wenatchee. Had everything we needed, the AC was an absolute saver in the summer heat. Host was incredibly responsive and nice, would happily rent again.

Best camping trip ever. We showed up at the camp site and everything was set up and hooked up. Very clean and well appointed. We will rent from them again.

Lake Chelan State Park, WA, United States
The park lies about 9 miles northwest of Chelan via South Lakeshore Road, roughly a 40-mile drive from Wenatchee and about 180 miles east of Seattle, typically 3.5 to 4 hours by RV depending on pass conditions. From the west side, most RVers cross the Cascades on US Highway 2 over Stevens Pass or Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass, both steep mountain routes where tire chains may be required in shoulder seasons and winter. From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97 Alternate for 3 miles, then turn right onto Southshore Road to reach the park; South Lakeshore Road is paved but narrow and winding in sections, so drivers of larger rigs should use caution on curves and pullouts. Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee is the closest regional airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport serving as the primary long-haul option.
