Alta Lake State Park is a scenic seasonal campground nestled where mountainous pine forests meet the high desert of north-central Washington, just outside the town of Pateros. Centered around a 2-mile-long freshwater lake, the park offers a stunning natural setting with mountain views, wildflowers in spring, and abundant wildlife. Campers can choose from standard, partial-hookup, and group sites accommodating rigs up to 38 feet, with amenities including water hookups, a dump station, hot showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, grills, and firewood. The lake is the heart of the park, drawing visitors for fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and water skiing. A boat ramp and dock provide easy water access, while hiking trails wind through the surrounding pine forests. On-site concessions offer snacks, espresso, camping supplies, and kayak or paddleboard rentals. A playground, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits round out the recreational offerings. Located in the Okanogan region of Washington State, Alta Lake State Park serves as an ideal base for exploring the Methow Valley, Lake Chelan, and the greater North Cascades area. Reservations can be made through the Washington State Parks booking system.
