Mills Norrie State Park, NY, United States
The park is just off US Route 9 in Staatsburg, roughly 10 minutes north of Poughkeepsie and about 1.5 to 2 hours from New York City via the Taconic State Parkway and local routes. RV drivers should note that the Taconic State Parkway prohibits commercial vehicles and has low, stone-arch bridges, so large motorhomes and trailers are typically routed via I-87 (New York State Thruway) to I-84 east, then north on US 9. Albany is about 75 miles north via US 9 or the Thruway. The nearest major airports for fly-and-rent trips are Stewart International (SWF) near Newburgh and Albany International (ALB).
Late May through early October is the best window for RV travel, when the campground is open, trails are dry, and the Hudson Valley is warm. September and early October bring cooler temperatures, fewer bugs, and strong fall foliage along the river. July and August are peak season with the busiest marina and golf traffic, so midweek arrivals are easier. April and November are cool shoulder months with limited camping services.
Campground closed for the season; day-use areas and trails may be accessible.

Campground closed; cold with snow and ice possible.
The park's riverfront trails lead to open overlooks of the Hudson River and the Catskills across the water. Paths connect picnic areas, the marina, and Norrie Point, and are gentle enough for most visitors.
The Norrie Point Environmental Center is a Hudson River estuary education facility with aquariums, exhibits, and seasonal programs. It is a good stop for families and rainy-day visitors, and it has accessible parking nearby.
This public 18-hole course plays through mature trees and along bluffs above the Hudson. Tee times are required in peak season and there is ample parking at the clubhouse.
Staatsburgh State Historic Site preserves the 65-room Gilded Age mansion of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills, adjacent to the park. Guided tours and expansive lawns overlooking the Hudson make it a standout cultural stop.
The park maintains several miles of multi-use trails through hardwood forest and along the river. Loops range from short walks to longer outings and are used for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter.
A seasonal marina and public boat launch provide direct access to the Hudson River for boating, kayaking, and fishing. Trailer parking is available near the launch.
Just south in Hyde Park, the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site and the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt offer guided tours and riverside grounds. Both sites have large lots that accommodate RVs and tow vehicles.
