The park is located 25 kilometers north of Elliot Lake, accessible via Highway 639. Elliot Lake sits approximately 163 kilometers west of Sudbury (roughly 2 hours) and 201 kilometers east of Sault Ste. Marie (approximately 2.5 hours). The nearest airports for fly-and-rent options are Sudbury Airport, 163 kilometers away, or Sault Ste. Marie Airport, approximately 201 kilometers away. The main access road is well-maintained year-round for the driving season.
May through mid-October offers the best camping conditions, with late May avoiding blackflies and mosquitoes prevalent in June. Summer months from July through August provide warm weather ideal for swimming, boating, and water activities, while September and mid-October deliver spectacular fall foliage and comfortable hiking conditions. Late May is excellent for wildflower viewing and songbird arrivals, though water temperatures remain cool.
