Moose Lake State Park is located 43 miles southwest of Duluth, Minnesota, approximately 45 minutes by car via Interstate 35, exiting at Highway 214 near Moose Lake. The park is situated 26 miles south of Cloquet and 112 miles north of the Twin Cities. For fly-and-rent travelers, Duluth International Airport is the nearest major airport, with multiple RV rental options available nearby. The park entrance is accessed via County Road 137, with no significant RV-specific road restrictions on approaches to the park.
The best time to visit Moose Lake State Park is from late May through September, when temperatures are mild to warm and all park facilities are fully operational. Summer months (June through August) offer ideal conditions for water activities and hiking, though July and August are peak season. Fall provides cooler temperatures and beautiful autumn scenery, while September remains pleasant for outdoor activities. RV travelers should note that the campground closes in mid-November and remains closed through March.

Echo Lake offers abundant fishing opportunities for bass and northern pike within the park. Equipment rental is available at the park office, making it convenient for RV campers without their own gear.
Boating, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming are available on Echo Lake. A designated sandy beach with picnic areas and boat launch provides easy access for RV campers.
The park features 5.5 miles of scenic hiking trails through pine forests and wildlife observation areas. Popular routes include the Wildlife Pond Loop and Rolling Hills Trail.
The 60-mile paved Willard Munger State Trail is located two miles west of the park and offers cycling, mountain biking, in-line skating, and winter snowmobiling. dnr.state.mn.us/state_trails/munger/index.html
The Agate Geological Interpretive Center showcases Minnesota's geology and the Lake Superior agate, the state gemstone. Educational exhibits are available for visitors of all ages.
The park is home to deer, waterfowl, and songbirds, and offers geocaching and stargazing opportunities. Birding kits and GPS units are available for loan from the park office.
