How to get to Pembina River Provincial Park

The park is located approximately one hour west of Edmonton via the Yellowhead Highway (Hwy 16) heading west. From Edmonton, take the exit for AB-16 near Entwistle and continue north on Hwy 16A for 2 km to the park entrance. The access road is a well-maintained two-lane highway in good condition suitable for standard RVs. Edmonton International Airport is the nearest major facility, approximately 90 minutes away by car. Cell service is limited throughout the park and surrounding areas.

Best time to visit Pembina River Provincial Park

The best time to visit for RV camping is June through August, when temperatures range from 21 to 24 degrees Celsius and campgrounds operate at full capacity. July offers the warmest and most stable conditions. May and September are excellent shoulder-season options with milder temperatures and fewer crowds before the September 20 closing. Winter recreation is available at day-use areas, but snow may limit some trail access and the campground closes from October through early May.
