Late spring through early fall, roughly April to October, offers the most comfortable conditions for RV camping, with warm days, open swim beaches, and fully operational campground facilities. Summer weekends and holidays draw heavy OHV and family crowds, so midweek visits or shoulder months such as May, September, and October provide milder weather and quieter campsites. Winter visits are possible for dry camping, but expect cold nights and reduced services.

St. Joe State Park's OHV riding area is one of the largest dedicated ATV and dirt-bike destinations in Missouri. Riders can explore open sand flats and a network of designated motorized trails. RV parking and staging are available at the OHV riding area lots.
Monsanto Lake offers a designated swim beach with sandy shoreline, ideal for cooling off on summer days. Nearby picnic areas and restrooms support day use. Paved parking accommodates tow vehicles and smaller RVs.
Adjacent to the park, this historic site interprets the Old Lead Belt mining heritage that shaped the region. Exhibits showcase mining equipment and geology in former mill buildings. It provides a rainy-day indoor option within a short drive of the campground.
A paved bike and walking trail winds through the park past lakes and open terrain, suitable for cycling, jogging, and accessible strolls. Trailheads have paved parking that can fit tow vehicles. The relatively flat grade makes it approachable for most fitness levels.
Dedicated horseback-riding trails loop through wooded and open sections of the park. Trailer parking is provided at the equestrian staging area. Riders should bring proof of negative Coggins as required by Missouri regulations.
Pim Lake offers shoreline fishing for bass, catfish, and panfish within the park. A Missouri fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older. Nearby pull-offs provide quick access from the main park road.
Shaded picnic shelters and open lawn areas are scattered near the lakes and trail junctions. Tables, grills, and restrooms support casual family outings. Day-use lots offer pull-through options for trucks with trailers.
Beautiful RV, very spacious. Owners were very sweet and fast to respond to communication.

We rented this camper for a weekend trip. Ralph is very nice & responded quickly to our questions. He was very accommodating to our pick up & drop off times. The camper was just like the pictures except the outside was faded a little which did not matter to us. It was clean and well taken care of. It was well stocked with cooking/eating needs. It even had a coffee maker, toaster, condiments, outdoor chairs, & much more. The bed was very comfy. I would rent it again.

St. Joe State Park, MO, United States
The park sits just west of Park Hills, Missouri, about 70 miles south of St. Louis via I-55 and US-67, roughly a 75 to 90 minute drive. From Farmington, it is a short 10 to 15 minute drive. RV travelers should stick to US-67 and state highways rather than narrow county roads, and watch for rolling Ozark grades on secondary approaches. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), about 80 miles north.
