Best time to visit Triton Cove State Park

Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, offers the most reliable weather for boating, paddling, and picnicking on Hood Canal. July and August bring the warmest temperatures and driest conditions, which is ideal for shellfish harvesting when seasons are open. Shoulder months like May, June, and September provide quieter conditions and easier parking for tow vehicles and trailers. Winter visits are possible but bring frequent rain, wind, and short daylight hours.

Chelsea and her husband’s RV was absolutely perfect for our long weekend! It was cozy, clean, functional, and had everything we needed. They truly set us up for success, from chairs to everything we needed for cooking, and we felt completely safe, comfortable, and accommodated the entire time. Chelsea was also wonderful with communication and made the whole experience incredibly easy. We are so grateful for how thoughtfully they prepared everything for us. Five stars all around. How to get to Triton Cove State Park

The park sits directly on US Highway 101 on the west side of Hood Canal, about 1.5 hours from Tacoma and roughly 2.5 to 3 hours from Seattle by way of either the Tacoma Narrows Bridge or the Bainbridge or Edmonds-Kingston ferries. The nearest full-service airport for fly-and-rent trips is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. RV drivers should plan for ferry length and weight limits if using Washington State Ferries, and be prepared for narrow shoulders and winding sections along Highway 101 near the Hood Canal bridge and through Brinnon. The approach to the park includes a short, sloped access road down to the water, which larger rigs should scout before committing.
