Late June through August is the prime window, with long daylight hours, warm temperatures, and full campground services at Louise Falls. Early June and early September are quieter shoulder periods, though nights turn cold quickly and biting insects peak in midsummer. Campground facilities typically close once snow and freezing temperatures arrive, so RV travellers should plan their visit before mid-September.

Alexandra Falls is the headline attraction, a 32 metre waterfall that thunders into a limestone canyon on the Hay River. A short, accessible path from the day-use parking area leads to fenced lookouts directly above the drop. Picnic tables and RV-friendly parking make it an easy stop off the Mackenzie Highway.
Louise Falls is a stair-step waterfall just downstream from Alexandra, with a viewing platform and a wooden staircase that descends partway into the gorge. The short walk from the campground or day-use lot offers close-up views of the falls and the canyon walls. Sturdy footwear is recommended on the stairs.
The Gorge Trail is a roughly 3 kilometre rim trail connecting Alexandra and Louise Falls. It passes several lookouts over the Hay River canyon and interpretive signs about boreal forest ecology and local Dene heritage. Most visitors hike one direction and shuttle back by RV.
Louise Falls Campground is the park's overnight base, with powered and non-powered sites suited to RVs of varying sizes. Amenities include a sani-dump, kitchen shelters, firewood, and pit toilets, with the falls within walking distance of the loop. It is a convenient overnight between Alberta and Yellowknife.
The Alexandra Falls day-use area offers covered picnic shelters, tables, and fire pits within earshot of the falls. It is a popular lunch stop for RV travellers on the Waterfalls Route. The large paved lot easily accommodates motorhomes and trailers.
The canyon rim is one of the best photography spots in the southern Northwest Territories, with dramatic light on the falls in early morning and evening. Boreal songbirds, swallows, and raptors are frequently seen along the gorge. Viewing platforms provide stable positions for tripods.
Twin Falls Gorge is the centrepiece of the NWT Waterfalls Route, which links several territorial parks along Highway 1 and 2. RVers often combine a visit with stops at Lady Evelyn Falls, Sambaa Deh Falls, and McNallie Creek. The paved highway and pull-through sites make multi-park touring straightforward.

Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park, NT, Canada
The park sits along Highway 1 (the Mackenzie Highway) in the Northwest Territories, about 70 kilometres south of the town of Hay River and roughly an hour north of the Alberta border crossing at 60th Parallel Territorial Park. From Edmonton, Alberta, the drive is approximately 1,200 kilometres and takes two to three days for an RV. The route is paved and generally RV friendly, but it is remote with long stretches between fuel stops, so RVers should top up in High Level, Alberta and Enterprise, NWT. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Hay River/Merlyn Carter Airport (YHY).
