Vermilion Provincial Park, AB, Canada
Vermilion Provincial Park is located 190 kilometers east of Edmonton, approximately a 2-hour drive via Highway 16, which is well-maintained year-round. From Calgary, the park is about 460 kilometers northeast, requiring approximately 4.5 to 5 hours of driving. The nearest major airport is Edmonton International Airport, located 219 kilometers away, though Lloydminster Regional Airport provides a closer alternative at approximately 65 kilometers. RVers should prepare for winter driving conditions with appropriate tires from November through March, as snow and ice are common in central Alberta during this season.
The park is fully staffed and all amenities operational from mid-May through late September, offering warm weather ideal for most RV travelers. July and August provide peak conditions with average temperatures around 23-24°C (73-75°F) and longest daylight hours. Shoulder months of May and September feature cooler conditions (around 18°C or 64°F) and fewer crowds, appealing to RV travelers seeking quieter campgrounds. Winter camping is available from late October through March in three pull-through sites with self-registration, though water and shower facilities remain closed during this period.
