Waterton Lakes National Park, AB, Canada
Waterton Lakes National Park is located 138 kilometers southwest of Lethbridge and approximately 277 kilometers south of Calgary, a 3-hour drive. For U.S. visitors, Glacier National Park near Kalispell, Montana is about 195 kilometers south. No tunnels or major RV restrictions block park-road access, though Red Rock Parkway closes to vehicles late October through May, and Akamina Parkway closes October 27 to May 1. Calgary International Airport is the primary airport for fly-and-rent visitors.
The best time to visit is June through September, when weather is most favorable and campgrounds are fully operational. July and August offer the warmest temperatures and longest daylight hours for hiking, though crowds peak during these months.
