Payne Lake Provincial Recreational Area — RV Camping in Alberta, CA

Payne Lake Provincial Recreational Area is a scenic lakeside campground in southern Alberta, located 25 km west of Cardston on Highway 5 and just 18 km east of Waterton Lakes National Park. Campers can choose between open lakeview sites with sweeping mountain vistas or shaded, private sites tucked into natural mixed forest. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with self-registration. Water enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy, with fishing for trout, canoeing, kayaking, power boating, sailing, and windsurfing all available on the lake. Note that towing is not permitted on Payne Lake, and aquatic invasive species protocols apply to all watercraft. On land, front-country hiking trails wind through the surrounding foothills landscape. Facilities include water hookups, picnic tables, grills, fire pits, firewood, toilets, and a boat launch. In winter months, ice fishing is a popular activity. The campground's proximity to Waterton Lakes National Park makes it an excellent base for exploring one of Canada's most celebrated national parks in the Canadian Rockies foothills region.
