Central Alberta has a short, intense camping season. Most private and municipal parks operate from early May through late September or October. Coal Lake South Provincial Recreational Area operates May 1 to September 30. The Canada Energy Museum Campground season runs from May 1st to September 30th, with water shut off from October 1st to avoid frozen pipes. Pipestone Links and Westview RV Park are also seasonal and align with the same general window.
July and August are the peak window, with comfortable daytime highs near the low twenties Celsius and the longest daylight hours of the year. June brings the heaviest precipitation of the year, averaging around 92 mm, so campers should expect wet ground and the occasional thunderstorm. May and September are cooler shoulder months with lighter crowds and a real chance of overnight frost. Wildfire smoke from northern and western fires can affect air quality during dry summer stretches; check Alberta's fire restrictions before arrival, particularly in Leduc County.

Refund amounts after that depend on how far out you cancel from your pickup date. If your plans change, open your booking in your RVezy account and follow the cancellation steps, or message the support team. Pro tip: book your Millet RV rental early, you can always adjust later, and the best rigs go fast for July and August long weekends.

A bit further out, Pigeon Lake Provincial Park has lakeside sites and a sandy beach, and Miquelon Lake Provincial Park (about 55 km east) is great for stargazing. Pro tip: book Pigeon Lake well ahead for July weekends, it's the most coveted lake near Edmonton.
albertaparks.ca/parks/central/pigeon-lake-pp/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Millet?
Mid-June through early September is the sweet spot for an RV road trip from Millet. July and August are the warmest and sunniest months, with daytime highs around 22 to 24°C (72 to 75°F) and long, late-setting prairie evenings perfect for a campfire. June brings wildflowers and lush green farmland but also the most rain, while September delivers crisp golden aspens, fewer crowds and lower nightly rates. Most Alberta Parks campgrounds operate from mid-May to the end of September. Insider tip: aim for the last two weeks of August, the bugs are mostly gone, the weather is still warm, and Edmonton's Folk Music Festival and Heritage Days are wrapped up so highways are quieter.
albertaparks.ca/albertaparks-ca/visit-our-parks/camping-in-alberta-parks/I've never driven an RV before, is renting in Millet a good idea?
Millet is honestly one of the friendliest places in Alberta to try an RV for the first time. The roads around town are wide, flat and lightly trafficked, and Highway 2A gives you a low-pressure way to practise before joining the bigger QEII Highway. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to use the awning, slide-outs, propane, water and tanks, and you can message them anytime during your trip with questions. If you'd rather skip the drive entirely, choose a host who offers delivery and setup. Pro tip: start with a one or two-night shakedown at Millet Lions Memorial Campground before heading to the mountains.
alberta.ca/road-safetyWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if needed, anywhere in Alberta. If you have a question about how something in the RV works, your host is just a message away, and most hosts in the Millet area respond quickly. For anything else, RVezy customer support is reachable before, during and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Millet, and snap photos of the RV at pickup so you have a clear record of its condition.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take a Millet RV rental to British Columbia or across the US border?
Absolutely, interprovincial travel within Canada is welcome, and many Millet hosts happily allow trips to BC for the Rockies, the Okanagan, or all the way to Vancouver Island. Cross-border travel into the United States is sometimes possible too, but it depends on the host and the insurance terms, so always confirm in a message before booking and let the host know your planned route. One important note, travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. Popular routes from Millet include the Icefields Parkway loop through Jasper and Banff, the Crowsnest Pass run to BC's Kootenays, and a southern swing to Waterton Lakes National Park.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.htmlHow much should I budget for fuel on a Millet RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to estimate. Most Class C motorhomes around Millet get roughly 18 to 22 litres per 100 km (about 11 to 13 mpg US), travel trailers behind a tow vehicle land near 16 to 20 L/100 km, and campervans are the most efficient at around 12 to 14 L/100 km. With Alberta gas prices typically sitting between CAD $1.30 and $1.55 per litre, a week-long 1,000 km loop through Jasper and back generally costs CAD $250 to $400 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Co-op or Costco in Leduc before heading west on Highway 39, prices climb noticeably once you pass Drayton Valley toward the mountains.
economicdashboard.alberta.ca/dashboard/gasoline-price/How far in advance should I book a campground near Millet?
For the best campgrounds near Millet, earlier is always better. Alberta Parks opens reservations on a 90-day rolling window through Shop.AlbertaParks.ca, so prime summer weekends at Pigeon Lake, Miquelon Lake and Crimson Lake go live exactly 90 days before your arrival date and often book within hours. National park sites in Jasper and Banff open in January through the Parks Canada Reservation Service. Private campgrounds like Pipestone Links and Millet Lions usually take direct bookings by phone or email and have more flexibility. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for 9:00 a.m. MT on day 90 and have your site number ready before you log in, hesitation costs you the lakefront spots.
albertaparks.ca/reservations/What are the driving conditions like around Millet?
Driving an RV around Millet is refreshingly relaxed. The terrain is flat to gently rolling prairie, Highway 2 (the QEII) is a wide twin divided highway connecting Edmonton and Calgary, and Highway 2A through town is calm and easy. Watch for sudden summer thunderstorms with crosswinds, and in shoulder season be alert for deer near dawn and dusk, especially east of town toward Miquelon Lake. From November through March, winter tires or all-weathers are required on highways into the mountains. Check 511 Alberta before any long drive for real-time road conditions. Local insider tip: if you're heading to Edmonton, take Highway 2A through Leduc to avoid construction zones near Nisku.
511.alberta.ca/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Millet?
Campgrounds around Millet are well set up for RVs of every size. Full-hookup sites with 30 or 50 amp power, fresh water and sewer are standard at Pipestone Links and Westview RV Park in Wetaskiwin, while Millet Lions Memorial Campground offers powered pull-throughs plus a public RV dump station and potable water fill right on site. Most Alberta Parks campgrounds (like Pigeon Lake and Miquelon Lake) provide power sites, vault or flush toilets, fire pits, picnic tables, and centralised dump stations. Pro tip: top up fresh water and dump tanks at the Millet Lions station before heading deeper into the Rockies, dump fees in Jasper and Banff are higher and lineups can be long in July.
milletlionscampground.com/What's inside a typical Millet RV rental?
Expect a fully furnished home on wheels. Motorhome rental in Millet listings on RVezy typically include a queen or king bed, bunk and convertible dinette beds (sleeping anywhere from 2 to 8), a propane stove and fridge, microwave, full bathroom with shower and toilet, furnace, air conditioning, and a roof or built-in generator for boondocking. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and even starter kits with linens, dishes and camp chairs. Seatbelted seats for travel are clearly listed on each listing, important for family RV trips around Millet. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and look for listings that include a kit, it saves a trip to the Leduc Walmart before you head out.
alberta.ca/seatbelts-and-child-safety-seatsWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for when booking?
Hosts in Millet make customizing easy. Common add-ons include delivery and setup, generator use, bedding and towel kits, kitchen and BBQ packages, bike racks, kayaks, camping chairs, fire-pit kits, and pet kits, each priced individually on the listing. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Millet, Leduc or Wetaskiwin, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included so you leave confident. Mileage policies range from set daily kilometres to unlimited mileage, so pick what fits your route. Pro tip: if you are planning a Jasper or Banff loop, choose a listing with unlimited mileage and add a generator, you will thank yourself at boondocking spots along the David Thompson Highway.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Millet%2C%20AlbertaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You book and pay directly through RVezy with a credit card, never in cash to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition. Deposit amounts vary by RV and are clearly shown on the listing before you confirm. To avoid any hiccups, do a photo walkaround at pickup and drop-off, respect the mileage and generator-hour limits, and dump tanks before return if required. Pro tip: message the host the morning of pickup to confirm timing, smooth communication keeps your deposit smooth too.
