Campgrounds and RV parks near Pincher Creek No. 9, AB

The area is built around water and trails. Beauvais Lake Provincial Park has roughly 30 km of trails plus rainbow trout fishing, paddling, boating, swimming, and birdwatching, with free interpretive programs and theatre shows in summer. Lundbreck Falls Recreational Area centres on a 12-metre waterfall on the Crowsnest River, with viewpoints, a short trail to the base, and fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout in the pool below. Windy Point at Oldman Dam sits on a steady-wind reservoir popular for sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, water-skiing, and fishing. Castle Falls Recreational Area gives access to the Castle River for swimming and fishing, with trails for hiking nearby. Maycroft is a quieter base for river fishing and kitesurfing along the Oldman River.

Most campgrounds in the Pincher Creek area run a mid-May to late-September or early-October season, with opening and closing dates subject to weather. Lundbreck Falls typically opens in spring and closes near the end of September. Castle Falls and Maycroft run on a similar warm-season schedule and operate as first come, first served with self-registration. Windy Point at Oldman Dam generally operates from late May into late November, and windsurfers continue to access the reservoir from the boat launch after the campground closes. Beauvais Lake is the standout exception: the park is open year-round, with 15 powered individual sites available by first come, first served self-registration from late September to early May. Walk-in tenting sites are closed during the winter season. Snow can linger into spring, and potable water at Beauvais Lake is not turned on until around mid-May. Summer is short and busy, June is typically the wettest month, and strong chinook winds are common around the Oldman Dam reservoir at any time of year.

Expect rustic to mid-service facilities rather than full hookups. Beauvais Lake has seasonal potable water, a sani-dump, two playgrounds, year-round outhouses, and a mix of powered and unpowered sites. Windy Point has a boat launch and pier but no on-site dump station; the sewage disposal station for Oldman Dam is located at Castleview Campground on the north side of the river. Water from the hand pump at Windy Point is not safe for drinking, so RVers should arrive with full fresh-water tanks, and campfires are prohibited there. Lundbreck Falls has powered, unserviced, and walk-in tenting sites but limited on-site services, including no firewood. Castle Falls and Maycroft are unserviced with pit toilets and basic facilities. Cell service is patchy at the more remote sites, and wind, especially around the reservoir, can be strong.
