Campgrounds and RV parks near Blissville, NB

The Saint John River corridor drives most of the recreation here. Swimming, paddling, and fishing are the core water activities, and Hartt Island RV Resort sits along the river within Fredericton city limits with on-site family amenities that suit travellers with kids. Mactaquac Provincial Park, roughly half an hour north, is the main regional hub. It features an extensive network of hiking trails, freshwater beaches, an 18-hole championship golf course, and the TreeGo Mactaquac aerial adventure course with rope skills and ziplining. Boating and picnicking on the Mactaquac head pond round out the day-use options. Woolastook Park adds wooded trails close to Blissville, and downtown Fredericton delivers museums, riverfront walking paths, and the Boyce Farmers Market for rest-day trips.

The prime RV season in central New Brunswick runs from mid-May through early September. Mactaquac Provincial Park's campground offers RV, tent, and roofed accommodations by reservation, with high-season rates in effect from mid-May through early September and low-season rates covering the shoulder weeks on either side. Private parks near Blissville generally follow a similar window, with some opening a few weeks earlier and closing after Thanksgiving weekend in October. July and August bring the warmest, driest weather and the busiest bookings, with average daytime highs around 26°C in Fredericton. Early fall is a strong shoulder season for foliage along the Saint John River valley, with cooler nights and fewer bugs. Winter shifts the area toward a snow-sport base. Mactaquac Provincial Park stays open year-round and offers skating on a frozen pond and forest skating trail, rental gear for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking, plus un-serviced winter camping sites. Most private RV parks close for the season, and spring runoff on the Saint John River can affect low-lying sites in April.

Expect a mix of forested private RV resorts and larger provincial park campgrounds. Serviced sites typically include 30-amp power and water, with sewer at premium pull-throughs; wooded sites often run on 15 or 30 amp with a nearby dump station. Cell coverage is reliable near Fredericton and along the Trans-Canada Highway, and patchier once trips push into interior back roads. Blackflies and mosquitoes peak in June, so pack repellent and screens. Firewood is generally sold on-site, and moving firewood between regions is discouraged to limit the spread of invasive pests. Roads into Blissville and along Route 101 are paved and manageable for larger rigs, but some private campground access lanes are gravel and narrow. Groceries, fuel, propane, and RV supplies are easiest to top up in Oromocto or Fredericton before heading to the site.
