Campgrounds near Stanley, New Brunswick
Stanley sits in central New Brunswick's Nashwaak Valley, roughly a 40-minute drive north of Fredericton via Route 8. The village is surrounded by working farmland, hardwood ridges, and the winding Nashwaak River, and it functions as a quiet base for RV travelers who want river access, hiking, and easy trips into the capital region.
Most campgrounds in the area cluster along two corridors: Route 8 between Stanley and Fredericton, and the Saint John River west of the city. Nearby private options include Noteworthy Farm RV Park in Cross Creek and Durham Bridge RV Resort Ltd., while Hartt Island RV Resort and River Run Resort & Grill sit closer to Fredericton on the Saint John River. Mactaquac Provincial Park, the region's largest public campground, is a short drive southwest of Fredericton.
Expect a mix of full-hookup resort sites, smaller family-run parks, and provincial park loops with electrical service. The area suits families, road-trippers heading to PEI or Nova Scotia, and anyone using Fredericton as a supply stop.
Things to do near Stanley
The Nashwaak River is the main draw close to Stanley itself, with fishing for trout and salmon, quiet paddling stretches, and swimming holes along Route 8. Cyclists use the paved shoulder of the Nashwaak Valley for day rides, and hunters and anglers use Stanley as a jumping-off point for Crown land to the north.
Southwest of Fredericton, Mactaquac Provincial Park offers a beach on the headpond, an 18-hole championship golf course, two marinas, and over 15 kilometres of hiking and cycling trails. The park also runs the TreeGO aerial adventure and rents equipment for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking in the colder months.
Downtown Fredericton is roughly 40 minutes away, with the Saturday Boyce Farmers Market, riverside trails, and the Historic Garrison District all worth a stop.

The main RV season in central New Brunswick runs from mid-May through mid-October. Hartt Island RV Resort opens May 1 (weather permitting) and closes October 15, and Mactaquac Provincial Park's serviced campground operates on a mid-May to September window. Private parks around Stanley follow the same general pattern, with some seasonal sites available for longer stays.
July and August are peak months. Weekend sites at riverside and provincial parks often fill weeks ahead, especially around Canada Day, the New Brunswick Day long weekend in early August, and Labour Day. June and September are quieter, cooler, and better for travelers who want space, though blackflies are active in late spring and early summer.
Mactaquac Provincial Park stays open year-round for day use and offers winter camping for experienced campers who reserve ahead. Most private campgrounds in the area shut down by mid to late October, and access roads to some rural sites can be limited by snow and mud between November and April.

How to book
Provincial park sites, including Mactaquac Provincial Park, are booked through the NB Parks reservation system at parcsnbparks.ca or by phone. Nightly summer reservations typically open in early February for the coming season, with seasonal sites released a couple of weeks earlier in mid to late January. A non-refundable reservation fee applies to each booking.
Private parks such as Hartt Island RV Resort, Durham Bridge RV Resort Ltd., River Run Resort & Grill, and Noteworthy Farm RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites, by phone, or through third-party platforms like Campspot. For long weekends and July or August stays, book eight to twelve weeks out. Confirm rig length, hookup amp service, and whether the site is pull-through or back-in before paying a deposit.
What to expect
Roads in the Stanley area are paved but narrow in spots, with rolling grades along Route 8 and the secondary roads that branch off toward the river. Larger rigs should stick to Route 8 and the Trans-Canada corridor rather than shortcutting on unmarked local roads. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the village and along main highways but can drop in the hills and along the Nashwaak.
Sites range from basic electrical loops at Mactaquac Provincial Park to full-hookup resort sites with pools and a waterpark at Hartt Island RV Resort. Groceries, fuel, propane, and RV supplies are easiest to pick up in Fredericton before heading north. Bring bug spray for spring and early summer, and pack layers, since nights cool off quickly even in July.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Stanley, NB
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Stanley, NB?
RV rental in Stanley, NB is one of the most affordable ways to experience the Nashwaak Valley. Travel trailers typically run $100 to $175 CAD per night, Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $300 CAD per night, and larger Class A rigs can be $300 or more. Because Stanley is a small rural village about 45 minutes north of Fredericton, you'll often find better nightly rates here than in bigger Maritime hubs. To save even more, book mid-week, travel in late May or early September shoulder season, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a longer stay often costs less per night than a short weekend trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stanley%2C%20New%20BrunswickDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Stanley, New Brunswick?
Good news: a regular Class 5 New Brunswick driver's license (or equivalent from your home province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Stanley. No commercial license, no air brake endorsement, and no RV-specific certification required for any motorhome or travel trailer on the RVezy platform. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID confirmation happens easily through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit if your license isn't in English or French. Most first-time renters in the Nashwaak region are pleasantly surprised at how quick and stress-free the verification process is.

Roadside help covers flat tires, lockouts, battery boosts, fuel delivery, and towing, which matters when you're exploring rural routes around Stanley, Cross Creek, or up toward Plaster Rock. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy helps you with a refund or rebooking credit. For the most current details and any trip-specific timelines, review the cancellation information in the RVezy Help Center during checkout. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Stanley?
Absolutely, your dog is welcome on plenty of Stanley RV rentals. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see hosts who allow pets, and message them with your dog's size and breed to confirm any small details. Stanley is a dream destination for dogs: the Nashwaak River trails, the village walking paths, and the wide-open forestry roads of the Nashwaak Valley give pups endless room to sniff and splash. Mactaquac Provincial Park, about 45 minutes south, is also pet-friendly and has leashed-dog beaches. Pro tip: pack a long lead, bring a towel for muddy paws after river walks, and your pet-friendly RV rental Stanley experience will be a tail-wagging success.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/tourism_heritage_culture/Parks.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Stanley?
Yes, RV delivery in Stanley is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're new to RVing. Many hosts within an hour of Stanley offer delivery and full setup directly to popular spots like Mactaquac Provincial Park, Hartt Island RV Resort, or a private cottage driveway along the Nashwaak River. The host arrives, levels the rig, connects water, sewer, and shore power, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching for a campervan rental in Stanley or motorhome to see who offers it. Pro tip: delivery fees are often based on distance, so booking a host based in Stanley, Nashwaak Bridge, or Fredericton keeps costs lowest.
parcsnbparks.info/en/discover/mactaquacHow far can I drive on a Stanley RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got options: many Stanley hosts include a generous daily kilometre allowance (typically 200 to 300 km per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for a longer New Brunswick road trip. Each listing clearly shows the mileage policy before you book, so there are no surprises. From Stanley, you're within easy range of Fredericton (about 45 km), Mactaquac Provincial Park (about 60 km), Miramichi (about 140 km), Mount Carleton Provincial Park (about 220 km), and Hopewell Rocks (about 260 km). Pro tip: if you're planning to loop the whole province or cross into Nova Scotia or PEI, filter for unlimited-mileage listings first and message the host to confirm your full route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stanley%2C%20New%20BrunswickWhere are the best campgrounds near Stanley, NB?
You're spoiled for choice with great campgrounds near Stanley. Mactaquac Provincial Park, about 45 minutes southwest, offers hundreds of serviced sites, a beach on the Saint John River headpond, and electrical and water hookups. Hartt Island RV Resort in Fredericton has riverside sites, a pool, and a mini-golf course, ideal for families. Murray Beach Provincial Park is a longer drive but worth it for warm Northumberland Strait swimming. Closer to home, private campgrounds along the Nashwaak River offer quieter, more rustic RV camping Stanley experiences. Pro tip: provincial park sites open for reservation each spring through the Parks NB system, and Mactaquac waterfront sites go fast, so book the moment reservations open.
parcsnbparks.info/en/discover/mactaquacWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Stanley, New Brunswick?
The sweet spot for a Stanley RV trip is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs typically sit in the low to mid-20s Celsius and nights are cool and comfortable for sleeping. July and August are peak season with the warmest swimming weather on the Nashwaak River. Early fall (mid-September to mid-October) is a local insider favourite: the maple, birch, and beech forests of the Nashwaak Valley turn brilliant red and orange, campgrounds empty out, and rates drop noticeably. Winter RV rentals are limited because temperatures can drop well below minus 15 degrees Celsius, but a few four-season hosts do offer cold-weather rigs. Pro tip: book your summer RV rental in Stanley, NB by March to get the best selection.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1991_2020_e.html?searchType=stnProv&lstProvince=NBI'm a first-time RV renter. How will I know how to use everything?
First time renting an RV? You're in great hands in Stanley. Every RVezy host provides a full in-person walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery), covering everything from leveling the rig and using the propane stove to dumping tanks and operating the awning. Most orientations take 30 to 60 minutes, and you can take notes, video the demo, and ask as many questions as you want. Hosts are reachable by message throughout your trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a call away. Pro tip: book a smaller travel trailer or Class C for your first New Brunswick trip, practice backing up in a large empty lot in Stanley before heading to your campground, and you'll feel confident in no time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
Relax, you're never on your own. Every Stanley RV rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the included RVezy protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. If you have a mechanical hiccup on Route 8 between Stanley and Miramichi or get stuck on a backroad near Cross Creek, one phone call brings help. Your host is also reachable by message for quick questions about quirks like the water pump switch or furnace ignition. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number, your host's number, and the nearest service centre in Fredericton in your phone before you leave.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips I can take from Stanley, NB?
Stanley sits in a sweet central spot for an unforgettable RV road trip from Stanley, NB. Drive about 45 minutes south to Fredericton for the historic Garrison District. Continue about 1.5 to 2 hours to Saint John for the Bay of Fundy and Reversing Falls. Head about 3 hours east to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park, where you can walk the ocean floor at low tide. Loop about 2.5 hours north to Mount Carleton Provincial Park, home to New Brunswick's highest peak. Or cross into Nova Scotia or PEI via the Confederation Bridge. Pro tip: travel between provinces in Canada is generally allowed on RVezy rentals, but crossing into the US requires host approval, and travel to Mexico isn't permitted.
tourismnewbrunswick.ca/What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how much does gas cost near Stanley?
Budgeting for fuel on your RV camping Stanley trip is straightforward. Expect roughly 12 to 15 L/100km for a campervan or small Class B, 18 to 22 L/100km for a Class C motorhome, and 25 to 30 L/100km for a Class A or a truck towing a fifth wheel. Gas prices in New Brunswick are regulated weekly by the Energy and Utilities Board, so you'll see consistent pricing at the Irving and other stations in Stanley, Nashwaak Bridge, and Fredericton. Pro tip: fill up in Fredericton before heading north, plan stops in Boiestown or Doaktown on longer trips, and use a fuel-finder app to locate the closest stations.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/energy_utilities_board/petroleum.htmlHow far in advance should I book a campground around Stanley?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best sites. New Brunswick provincial parks like Mactaquac open online reservations each spring through the official Parks NB reservation system, and waterfront and full-service sites for July and August often sell out within days. Private campgrounds such as Hartt Island RV Resort take bookings year-round and tend to fill up by May for peak summer weekends. For a more spontaneous Stanley RV trip, target Sunday to Thursday nights or shoulder season (June or September), when availability is much better. Pro tip: if peak weekends are booked, look at smaller private campgrounds along the Nashwaak River or Crown Land camping options, which often have last-minute openings.
parcsnbparks.info/What are driving conditions like around Stanley, NB?
Driving an RV around Stanley is refreshingly relaxed compared to big-city traffic. Route 8 (the main highway connecting Fredericton to Miramichi) is a well-paved two-lane road with gentle curves and wide shoulders, perfect for first-time RV drivers. Local roads in the Nashwaak Valley are paved but narrow, with the occasional logging truck and frequent wildlife, especially moose and white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, so most RV trips happen May through October. Pro tip: avoid driving Route 8 north of Stanley after dark when possible, watch for moose-crossing signs near Cross Creek and Boiestown, and pull over at the regular highway lookouts to let faster traffic pass.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/dti/transportation/content/511.htmlWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Stanley?
Most campgrounds near Stanley offer the full RV camping setup you need for a comfortable trip. Mactaquac Provincial Park has 30-amp electrical, water, washrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and a sani-dump near the gate. Hartt Island RV Resort offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp), Wi-Fi, laundry, and a pool. Smaller private spots along the Nashwaak River often provide partial hookups with potable water fills. For free dump stations, the Irving station in Fredericton and the Mactaquac Park sani-dump are both close to Stanley. Pro tip: fill your fresh water before leaving Fredericton if you're heading deeper into the Nashwaak Valley, since hookups can be limited at rustic sites, and always carry a 25-foot fresh water hose.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/tourism_heritage_culture/Parks/content/MactaquacProvincialPark.htmlWhat features and amenities come with a typical Stanley RV rental?
Stanley RV rentals come well-equipped for Maritime adventures. Expect a queen or king bed, bunk options in larger rigs, a full kitchen with propane stove, fridge, microwave, and most have an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning, furnace heat, awning, outdoor speakers, and a TV are common. Many hosts include a generator, solar setup, or starter kits with linens, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs. Seatbelts for every passenger are standard, which matters for family trips. Pro tip: when comparing campervan rental Stanley and motorhome options, message the host about Wi-Fi hotspots (cell service can be patchy along the Nashwaak River) and ask if a propane firepit is included, since open fires are sometimes restricted during dry summers.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/motor-vehicle-safety/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my Stanley RV rental?
Hosts in the Stanley and greater Fredericton area offer plenty of add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include delivery and setup (often $1 to $3/km from the host's base), generator use, kayak or bike racks, camping chairs and tables, BBQ packages, linens and kitchen kits, propane firepits, and pet cleaning fees if you're traveling with a dog. Some hosts even offer fishing gear for the Nashwaak River, which is famous for Atlantic salmon. Pickup and drop-off are typically at the host's home, with set time windows, though many hosts offer flexible scheduling. Pro tip: bundling delivery, setup, and a stocked kitchen for a cheap RV rental Stanley weekend often costs less than driving the RV yourself for a short trip.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/erd/natural_resources/content/fish_wildlife.htmlHow does payment and the security deposit work on my Stanley RV rental?
Payment is simple and secure: RVezy charges your credit card directly through the platform, so you never pay the host in cash. You'll see the full breakdown (nightly rate, protection plan, taxes, delivery, and security deposit hold) before you confirm your booking, with no hidden fees. The security deposit is a pre-authorization hold on your credit card, separate from your booking payment, and is released after the trip ends if the RV comes back in the same condition. Hold amounts vary by rig and are shown on each listing. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and drop-off, and report any pre-existing scratches to your host right away, this avoids any deposit questions later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I legally park an RV overnight in and around Stanley?
You've got solid options for where to park an RV in Stanley. The safest and easiest bet is a designated campground like Mactaquac Provincial Park, Hartt Island RV Resort, or private spots along the Nashwaak River. Overnight parking in Stanley village itself isn't permitted on residential streets, but day parking at the village park is fine for a quick stop. Some Walmart locations in Fredericton have historically allowed overnight RV parking (always call the specific store to confirm), and several Irving Big Stops along Route 8 welcome short overnight stays. Crown Land camping is also available with restrictions for New Brunswick residents and visitors. Pro tip: book a designated campground when possible, and use the Parks NB site to find vetted overnight spots throughout your family RV trip Stanley adventure.
