Campgrounds and RV parks near Old Perlican, NL

Old Perlican sits near the top of the Bay de Verde Peninsula on the Avalon, at the junction of Routes 70 and 80, roughly 60 km from Carbonear and 50 km from Heart's Content. It is a working fishing town on Trinity Bay with a harbour, a grocery store, a pharmacy, and fuel, which makes it a practical resupply stop for RV travellers touring the Baccalieu Trail. There is no campground inside town limits, so RV renters typically base themselves at nearby private parks and provincial sites and use Old Perlican as a day-trip anchor. Lockston Path Provincial Park sits in the middle of the Bonavista Peninsula in eastern Newfoundland, and along with Trinity Cabins Trailer Park and Little Pond Park RV Campground offers options within reasonable towing distance. Closer to Old Perlican, Marine Park Jellystone and Crowhill RV Park round out the choices. Expect long drives between stops, mixed cell coverage on Route 80, and a coastal setting where fog and wind can change plans quickly. Plan fuel, groceries, and dump-station stops around a small number of service towns rather than relying on finding them en route.

Provincial sites in the area, including Lockston Path Provincial Park, are booked through the ParksNL Campsite Reservation Service at nlcamping.ca. Lockston Path Provincial Park offers 57 campsites, 20 of which have electrical services, with 15 and 30 amp service available and five of those offering 50 amp service. A wheelchair accessible comfort station with flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and a trailer dumping station is also on site. Serviced sites fill first, so book as early as the reservation window opens, especially for July and August weekends. Private parks such as Marine Park Jellystone, Trinity Cabins Trailer Park, Little Pond Park RV Campground, and Crowhill RV Park are booked directly with the operator. RV renters using a delivery service can often have the rig set up on-site by the host, which avoids towing on unfamiliar rural roads.
