Campgrounds near Alexandria, Ontario
Alexandria sits in the heart of Glengarry County in eastern Ontario, roughly an hour from both Ottawa and Montreal. The town is a practical base for RV travellers exploring the St. Lawrence River corridor, with most campgrounds clustered south of town between Lancaster, Summerstown, and the Quebec border. Glengarry County's southern edge runs along the St. Lawrence River, where the majority of full-service RV parks are located.
Closest to Alexandria itself, Lancaster Park Outdoor Resort is a 48-acre waterfront destination on the St. Lawrence River near Lancaster, offering modern RV sites with pull-through options and full hookups including electrical, water, and sewer. Nearby, the Raisin Region Conservation Authority's Charlottenburgh Park in South Glengarry is a coastal Conservation Area with 235 acres of natural habitat and varied ecosystems, located on the St. Lawrence near Summerstown.
Cross-border options add range. Cameron's Point Family Campground and Maplewood Acres RV Park round out the Ontario side, while Camping Le Dauphin sits just across the provincial line in Quebec, giving travellers straightforward access to the Montérégie region and the Lac Saint-François area.
Things to do near Alexandria
The St. Lawrence River shapes most of the recreation. Lancaster Park Outdoor Resort has over 45 riverfront acres and a 200-metre sandy beach with a beachside licensed tiki bar on the St. Lawrence, and finger dock systems for docking a boat for the season or a weekend, with fishing along the St. Lawrence River. Bass and perch are common catches in this stretch of river.
For hiking and wildlife, the six-kilometre nature trail system at Charlottenburgh Park is open year-round at no cost, and Camping Le Dauphin sits close to the Lac Saint-François National Wildlife Area, a well-known birding destination.
Beyond the campgrounds, day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, Cornwall, and Upper Canada Village are all within about an hour's drive, making Alexandria a workable hub for families combining nature days with city visits.

How to book near Alexandria
Reservation systems vary by operator. For Charlottenburgh Park, online reservations for the 2026 camping season open on March 2 at 9:00 am, managed by the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, with daily, weekend, and monthly campsites bookable online. Seasonal sites are allocated separately through an application draw held the previous autumn, so most public bookings are for daily or weekend stays.
Private parks such as Lancaster Park Outdoor Resort, Cameron's Point Family Campground, Maplewood Acres RV Park, and Camping Le Dauphin take bookings directly through their websites or by phone. For summer long weekends, book two to three months ahead. Confirm minimum-night rules before finalizing a trip, as they tighten around holidays.
Renters arriving with a rental RV should share the unit's length, slide-out details, and hookup needs when reserving to ensure the assigned site fits.
What to expect on arrival

Waterfront resorts run more amenity-heavy: Lancaster Park has a sandy private beach with volleyball facilities, a modern playground, sports amenities including a soccer field and baseball diamond, and an on-site tiki bar with waterfront dining.
Check-in is usually mid-afternoon and checkout late morning. Quiet hours are enforced, and dogs are generally welcome on leash, though most parks restrict pets from beach and swimming areas. Cell coverage is reliable along the Highway 401 corridor. Groceries, propane, and RV supplies are easy to find in Alexandria, Lancaster, and Cornwall.
