Campgrounds and RV parks near Alfred and Plantagenet, ON

Alfred and Plantagenet is a bilingual township in Ontario's United Counties of Prescott and Russell, sitting along the south shore of the Ottawa River between Ottawa and Montreal. Downtown Ottawa is about 40 minutes away and Montreal roughly 90 minutes, which makes the township a practical base for RV renters who want river access without staying in a major city. Campgrounds cluster on both sides of the river. On the Ontario side, Cedar Shade Campground and Hammond Hill sit within easy driving distance of the villages of Alfred, Plantagenet, and Wendover. Just across the Ottawa River in Quebec, Parc national de Plaisance protects extensive wetlands along the river and is a significant migratory stopover, particularly for Canada geese. Evergreen Camping Resort and La Marina de Montebello round out the nearby options for waterfront-oriented stays. The area suits families and first-time RV renters. Terrain is flat, roads are quiet, and most sites are within a short drive of groceries, fuel, and dump stations in Alfred, Plantagenet, Hawkesbury, or Thurso.

Reservation systems differ by shore. On the Quebec side, sites at Plaisance Provincial Park are reserved through the Sépaq reservation system at sepaq.com, which handles all Quebec national park campgrounds, ready-to-camp units, and cottages. Reservations for the upcoming summer season in Quebec national parks open in early November of the prior year, and popular dates fill quickly. National park access also requires a daily access right or annual Sépaq card, which must be purchased before the visit. Ontario-side and private options, including Cedar Shade Campground, Hammond Hill, Evergreen Camping Resort, and La Marina de Montebello, are booked directly with each operator by phone or through their own websites. Confirm RV length limits, hookup type, and pet policy at the time of booking.
