Camping near Bath, Ontario
Bath is a small village on the north shore of Lake Ontario in Loyalist Township, about 25 kilometres west of Kingston along the Loyalist Parkway (Highway 33). The area sits between two major waterways, Lake Ontario to the south and the Bay of Quinte to the north, which shapes most of the region's camping and recreation.
RV renters have a mix of private resorts, heritage-park campgrounds, and Kingston-area options within a short drive. Sun Retreats Hay Bay is a seasonal RV resort along the southern shores of Hay Bay on the Bay of Quinte, with over 700 feet of shoreline and 21 acres of shaded woodland. United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park was established as a family campground and day-use facility by the Province of Ontario in 1956 and has served as such since that time, sitting on the Bay of Quinte in nearby Adolphustown.
Further east, 1000 Islands / Kingston KOA Holiday is open seasonally from May through mid-October and serves as a common base for exploring Kingston and the Thousand Islands. North of Kingston, Loughborough Lake Holiday Park Campground and Accommodating Bay round out the options for RV renters looking to stay on inland lakes or in Prince Edward County.
Things to do around Bath
The Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario dominate the recreation calendar. Anglers target walleye, pike, bass, and perch on Hay Bay and throughout the Bay of Quinte, and several local campgrounds have boat launches or docks for guests bringing a boat.
Cyclists can pick up the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail, a 2,100-kilometre path with scenic views, wildlife, and small towns, which runs through Bath itself. History travellers can visit the United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre, which preserves the 1784 landing site of the first Loyalist settlers, along with the original Loyalist Cemetery and an 1884 monument.
Kingston is a short drive east and offers Fort Henry, boat tours of the Thousand Islands, the Kingston Penitentiary tour, and downtown dining. The Glenora Ferry, west of Bath, provides free vehicle access to Prince Edward County wineries, Sandbanks beaches, and Picton.

Camping season around Bath is short and heavily concentrated between the Victoria Day and Thanksgiving long weekends. United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park operates daily from Victoria Day Weekend until Thanksgiving Day Weekend each year, and the park and campground are closed to visitors for the remainder of the year. 1000 Islands / Kingston KOA Holiday runs from early May through mid-October, which is typical for the region.
July and August bring the warmest weather, the busiest campgrounds, and the highest demand for waterfront sites. Long weekends (Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving) book out earliest, and Sun Retreats Hay Bay in particular is a seasonal-only park that tends toward full-season stays rather than overnight camping.
Late spring and early fall are quieter and cooler, with fewer bugs and lower demand. Winter is not a practical RV window in this part of Ontario: private parks close, water systems are drained, and most access roads are not maintained for camping traffic.

Lisa and Manny were amazing to deal with . They responded quickly and were very helpful in answering any questions we had. The trailer was exactly what we needed to make our camping weekend an enjoyable one !!!!
Brent M. - Sep 2026
Lisa and Manny are wonderful hosts, explain everything in detail. Trailer tows beautifully. I had no issues with the trailer at all. I would suggest bringing a mattress topper because the Murphy bed mattress is not as thick as a regular mattress.

Ryan and Ashley are great to communicate with and flexible regarding delivery and pick up. They provided a great run through of the trailer. The trailer was perfect for our stay at Sandbanks and was fully stocked with all the necessary accessories. Would definitely rent again!

Wonderful experience booking and staying in this rental. The hosts were great at corresponding before our trip, and after we arrived they were helpful setting up and explaining the amenities. They were extremely flexible with delivery - it did not go unappreciated (especially when you're traveling with little ones). Thank you, Ryan & Ashley!!

How to book a site
Most campgrounds around Bath are privately operated and take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Sun Retreats Hay Bay is a seasonal-only resort and does not offer overnight camping or vacation rentals, so a waiting list may apply for full-season sites. United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park books overnight, weekly, and seasonal sites through its Adolphustown office by phone or email.
1000 Islands / Kingston KOA Holiday uses the KOA reservation system online or by phone. Loughborough Lake Holiday Park Campground and Accommodating Bay also take direct bookings; call ahead to confirm hookup type and rig-length limits before arrival.
For summer weekends, reserve as early as possible, ideally several months out. Ontario Parks reservations for provincial campgrounds farther afield open five months in advance through the Ontario Parks reservation service.
What to expect on-site
Sites in the Bath area range from full-service RV pads to unserviced grass tent sites. Along the Bay of Quinte, full-service parks typically provide electrical hookups, water connections, and dump stations, accommodating everything from small travel trailers to larger rigs. United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park offers around 110 sites on 72 acres, with a mix of serviced and non-serviced options for overnight, weekly, or seasonal stays.
Families can expect standard amenities: flush washrooms, showers, playgrounds, and camp stores. Sun Retreats Hay Bay has an outdoor heated pool, horseshoes, live music, bingo, and kids' games, and the KOA in Kingston runs themed weekends through summer and fall.
Cell coverage is generally good along the Loyalist Parkway and in Kingston. Firewood is typically sold on-site; do not transport firewood between regions due to Ontario invasive-species rules. Black flies and mosquitoes are worst in late May through June, so bring repellent.
