Campgrounds and RV parks near Frontenac Islands, ON

Frontenac Islands is a township at the point where Lake Ontario empties into the St. Lawrence River. It encompasses a number of islands including Garden, Howe, Simcoe, and Wolfe. Wolfe Island is the largest and the primary visitor destination, reached by ferry from Kingston. RV campers will not find drive-in campgrounds on the islands themselves. The practical base camps sit on the mainland near Kingston and across the border in New York's Thousand Islands region. Rideau Acres Campground, on the Rideau Canal just north of Kingston, is the closest Canadian option and welcomes tents through the largest RVs. A cluster of New York state parks including Cedar Point State Park, Burnham Point State Park, and Thousand Islands - Long Point State Park sits within reach of the Thousand Islands border crossings. Wolfe Island is reached year-round via the free Wolfe Islander ferry from downtown Kingston, a crossing of roughly 20 minutes. Day trips from a mainland campsite are the standard approach.
