Campgrounds and RV parks near Metcalfe, ON

Metcalfe is a small village in the rural south end of the City of Ottawa, roughly 30 minutes from the downtown core by road. The area is farm country: flat fields, quiet concession roads, and small villages like Osgoode, Greely, and Vernon within easy driving distance. It sits between the Rideau River corridor to the west and the Quebec border to the east, giving RV travellers a practical rural base with quick access to Ottawa attractions. Campgrounds near Metcalfe are almost entirely private, family-run operations rather than provincial parks. Ottawa's Poplar Grove Campground/ RV Park, Camp Hither Hills, Sleepy Cedars Family Camping, Sandy Mountain Camp and Golf, and Kittawa RV Resort are the closest options for RV renters, each offering a mix of serviced sites, seasonal amenities, and tent-friendly loops. Renters typically use these campgrounds as a home base to explore downtown Ottawa museums, the Rideau Canal, and the surrounding rural attractions, then return to a quieter site in the countryside at night. Roads through the area are paved and generally easy for larger rigs, though village streets in Metcalfe itself are narrow.

The campgrounds closest to Metcalfe, including Ottawa's Poplar Grove Campground/ RV Park, Camp Hither Hills, Sleepy Cedars Family Camping, Sandy Mountain Camp and Golf, and Kittawa RV Resort, are privately owned and each operates its own booking system. Reservations are made directly with the campground by phone or through the operator's website, not through Ontario Parks or Parks Canada. For summer weekends, long weekends (Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day), and events like the Metcalfe Fair in early October, sites can fill months ahead. Booking in late winter or early spring is recommended for peak dates. Weekday and shoulder-season stays are typically easier to secure. When requesting a site, confirm rig length, electrical amperage (15/30/50 amp), whether water and sewer are at the site or only at a central dump station, and any pet, campfire, or quiet-hour rules before confirming.
