Campgrounds and RV parks near North Stormont, ON

The St. Lawrence River corridor is the main draw. Boat launches, swimming beaches, fishing, and paddling are standard at riverside campgrounds, and the paved Waterfront Trail runs through the area for cycling. Upper Canada Village, a living-history museum recreating 1860s Canadian life, sits within a short drive and pairs well with a stop at Crysler's Farm Battlefield Memorial Park. Birders and families gravitate to the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary, which offers self-guided trails through forest, wetland, and meadow habitat. On the New York side, Robert Moses State Park offers a marina and boat launch, some of the best fishing in the Northeast, picnic areas, a swimming beach, tennis courts and a year round nature center, reached via a tunnel under the Eisenhower Lock.

The camping season in this part of eastern Ontario is short and firmly warm-weather focused. Kittawa is open from May 1 through to October 31 subject to weather, and Parks of the St. Lawrence campgrounds run on a similar spring-to-fall schedule, with campers able to book any available dates from May to November at select locations. July and August are peak season, with warm days, warm river swimming, and the highest demand for waterfront sites and cabins. Cabins at the Bird Sanctuary campground and the Robin's Roost Treehouse sell out quickly, so mid-summer weekends should be locked in well ahead. Spring brings migratory waterfowl through the sanctuary and cool nights, while September and early October deliver quieter sites and fall colour along the river. Winter shuts most campgrounds down entirely. Nature, hiking and cross-country skiing trails wind through fields, forests and wetlands, and in winter the park also welcomes snowmobilers at Robert Moses, but overnight RV camping is not available in the cold months.

Expect a mix of provincial-style waterfront camping, private family resorts, and one U.S. state park within easy reach. Ontario sites along the Long Sault Parkway lean toward wooded, water-adjacent lots with a range of service levels. Guests can choose from a wide range of campsite types, including basic, waterfront and premium waterfront, serviced sites offering electricity at 15, 30, or 50 amps, along with comfort stations, laundry, dump stations, and boat launches. Kittawa RV Resort is the closest thing to a resort experience, with a man-made lake with a sandy beach, a swimming pool, hot tubs, and an aquapark floating waterpark, plus sport courts, a ballfield, a children's playground, an outdoor theater, fishing, and rentals for canoes, paddleboards, and kayaks. Cross-border travellers heading to Robert Moses State Park should note the tunnel height under the Eisenhower Lock is 13 feet 6 inches, and current proof of rabies inoculation is required at check-in for pets.
