Campgrounds and RV parks near Orangeville, ON

Hiking is the headline activity. Popular routes at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park include the Walter Tovell Trail, McCarston's Lake Trail, and the Cliff-Top Side Trail, each offering different perspectives of the escarpment, ponds, and surrounding countryside. The park carries a section of the Bruce Trail and includes a wooden staircase along the cliff face. It is day-use only, considered a non-operating park with limited amenities, and requires a reserved daily vehicle permit. Families staying at Highland Pines Campground have on-site swimming pools, splash pads, playgrounds, and an on-site marina with 100 rental dock slips where visitors can launch a boat onto scenic Lake Belwood. The nearby Elora Gorge Conservation Area is a popular add-on for tubing and cliffside walking trails. Beyond the parks, downtown Orangeville has a walkable main street, Theatre Orangeville, and Island Lake Conservation Area for paddling and shoreline trails. Highland Pines is located on the shores of Lake Belwood outside Fergus and is open May through October, and most nearby private parks operate on a similar May-to-Thanksgiving window. Mono Cliffs draws large crowds on weekends, especially during summer and fall, so the best times to visit are winter and early spring, and visitors can beat the crowds by visiting November through April. Overnight RV camping is not available in the immediate area during winter.

Expect full-hookup RV sites at the larger resorts. Highland Pines offers over 120 overnight campsites with water, power, and sewage hookups, as well as access to all park amenities. Extensive amenities include full utility hookups, dump stations, laundry facilities, showers, internet access, a swimming pool, playground, grills, picnic tables, and firewood. Sites at the busier family resorts can be cramped with limited privacy or trees between tents and RVs, so travellers wanting a quieter setting should ask about wooded or perimeter sites when booking. Quiet hours are enforced at most parks. At Mono Cliffs, facilities are minimal, with washrooms at the main parking lot and other restrooms along the trails. Bring sturdy footwear, water, and a downloaded map. Pets are welcome at Mono Cliffs but must be kept on a leash no longer than 2 metres, and the same rule applies at most private campgrounds nearby.
