Campgrounds and RV parks near Wabaseemoong, ON

Wabaseemoong sits along the English River system in northwestern Ontario, roughly 120 kilometres northwest of Kenora and about 13 kilometres east of the Manitoba border. The community is reached via Highways 596 and 525, and most developed campgrounds within practical RV-driving distance lie just across the provincial line in Manitoba's Whiteshell and Nopiming provincial parks. Both parks sit on the Canadian Shield, with hundreds of clear lakes ringed by granite outcrops, jack pine, black spruce, birch and poplar. The closest options for RV travellers are Caddy Lake - Whiteshell Provincial Park, Big Whiteshell - Whiteshell Provincial Park and West Hawk Lake - Whiteshell Provincial Park, plus Tulabi Falls - Nopiming Provincial Park and Bird Lake - Nopiming Provincial Park. West Hawk is one of the busiest campgrounds in the Whiteshell, anchored by a townsite with a store, restaurant and a campground on the shore of Manitoba's deepest lake, an ancient meteorite impact crater. Tulabi Falls and Bird Lake are quieter and more rustic, with shorter site lists and limited services. All five run on Manitoba's reservation system rather than Ontario Parks.

Reservations open on a staggered schedule each spring, with Whiteshell Provincial Park campgrounds, including Caddy Lake, Big Whiteshell and West Hawk Lake, opening on a Wednesday at 7 a.m., and Nopiming campgrounds, including Tulabi Falls and Bird Lake, opening two days later on the Friday at 7 a.m. Long-weekend stays typically carry a multi-night minimum that includes the Saturday night, and stays of up to 21 nights are permitted. Unreserved sites are released first-come, first-served. A Park Vehicle Permit is required in addition to the campsite reservation and can be purchased online before arrival. A reservation cancellation fee applies to reservations cancelled four or more days prior to arrival, while cancellations within three days or less are charged one night's camping fee. Cross-border travellers from Ontario should plan for the time-zone change at the Manitoba line.
