Campgrounds and RV parks near Brossard, QC

The biggest draw is Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville, a Sépaq park spread across five islands in the St. Lawrence with flat cycling loops, a river shuttle to the islands, kayak and canoe rentals, and wildlife watching for white-tailed deer and beaver. Cycling is the easiest way to cover the park, and bikes can be rented on site. Families use the REM at the Brossard station to reach Old Montreal, Notre-Dame Basilica, the Biodôme, the Botanical Garden, and the Old Port. Closer to the campgrounds, the Montérégie has cider routes, pick-your-own orchards in late summer and fall, and the cycling network of the Route Verte. Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno, a short drive east, adds hiking trails and a small lake.

The South Shore camping season is tightly seasonal. Most private campgrounds in the Montérégie open in early May and close around Canadian Thanksgiving in mid-October, with peak demand running from late June through Labour Day. July and August deliver warm, humid days well suited to pool time and river paddling, but they are also when sites fill earliest and Montreal's festival calendar drives weekend bookings. Late spring and early fall are quieter alternatives. Bugs ease off after mid-June, foliage colour peaks through early October, and overnight lows are cool enough to need a furnace. Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville stays open year-round for day use, with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and winter activities, but its Molson RV sector and ready-to-camp tents are seasonal, running from early May to late October. Winter RV camping near Brossard is essentially limited to long-term parks: snow cover normally runs late November through mid-March, and most private campgrounds drain their water systems for the season.

Expect a bilingual environment. French is the working language of Quebec, but campground staff on the South Shore generally speak English, especially at Montreal South KOA Journey and Camping La Cle Des Champs. Power at most full-service sites is 30-amp, with 50-amp common at the larger resorts. Highway access is straightforward: Autoroute 30 forms the southern bypass and connects to Autoroute 15 for the US border and Autoroute 20 east toward Quebec City. Traffic on the bridges into Montreal backs up during weekday rush hours, which is why many RVers leave the rig at the site and take the REM from Brossard. Mosquitoes and black flies are heaviest in June near wetlands and the river islands. Campfires are usually allowed at private sites; check current fire bans during dry summers.
