Campgrounds and RV parks near Communauté Atikamekw de Manawan, QC

Communauté Atikamekw de Manawan sits in a remote pocket of the Lanaudière region of Quebec, roughly 86 km north of Saint-Michel-des-Saints by gravel forest road. The village itself has no commercial RV campgrounds, so most RV travellers base themselves in the protected lands to the south and west: Parc national du Mont-Tremblant and the adjacent Réserve faunique Rouge-Matawin, both managed by SÉPAQ, the Quebec provincial outdoor agency. Mont-Tremblant National Park is one of the largest provincial parks in Quebec, with six major rivers and roughly 400 lakes and streams across more than 1,500 square kilometres of Laurentian forest. The nearest rustic sites for an RV trip toward Manawan include Lac Savane Ouest - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, Lac Girondin - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, Lac Herman - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, and Lac aux Rats - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, plus Lac des Sucreries - Rouge Matawin Reserve in the wildlife reserve to the north. Access to Manawan itself is via an unpaved logging road; many visitors stage at a SÉPAQ campground and day-trip north rather than driving an RV all the way in.

All campgrounds in Mont-Tremblant National Park and the Rouge-Matawin Wildlife Reserve are reserved through SÉPAQ, the provincial agency that manages both. Reservations are made online at sepaq.com or by phone at 1-800-665-6527. SÉPAQ opens summer camping reservations for its national parks on a fixed weekend in early November of the prior year, with destinations released in staggered time slots; wildlife reserve bookings for the following summer open separately in the spring. Prime lakeside sites and ready-to-camp units go quickly when the window opens. A daily park access right or annual network card is required in addition to the campsite booking for national parks, and taxes are not included in posted rates.
