Campgrounds and RV parks near Lantier, QC

The single biggest draw is Parc national du Mont-Tremblant itself, with around 400 lakes and streams, six major rivers, and a network of hiking, paddling, and mountain-biking trails. Canoe camping is offered on routes including the Devil's River, and rental canoes are available at multiple visitor centres in the park. Lantier sits on the P'tit Train du Nord linear park, a roughly 200-kilometre rail trail running between Saint-Jerome and Mont-Laurier. It is used for cycling, hiking, and inline skating in summer, and for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in winter. Swimming, fishing, and wildlife viewing (the park is home to 40 mammal species, including white-tailed deer and wolves) round out a typical RV week.

The Laurentides has a humid continental climate with frigid, snowy winters and warm, comfortable summers. The main RV camping season in Parc national du Mont-Tremblant runs roughly from mid-May through late October, with exact opening dates varying by sector. July and August are the peak months: warmest temperatures, full services at SEPAQ campgrounds, and the highest demand for both private and park sites. June can be excellent for paddling and hiking, but blackflies and mosquitoes are at their worst in late spring. September brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and the start of fall colour in the sugar-maple forest that dominates the park. Winter use is limited but possible. Rustic winter camping in the park is available by reservation only by calling 1-800-665-6527, and several cabins and ready-to-camp units stay open year-round. Most private RV parks in the area close once services are winterized, so travellers planning a late-fall or early-spring trip should confirm directly with the operator.

Inside Parc national du Mont-Tremblant, the Diable sector alone has more than 600 rustic or no-service sites, 85 two-service sites, and 39 three-service sites spread around Lac Monroe, Lac Chat, and Lac Escalier. Rustic sites typically include a picnic table, fire pit, and a nearby dry toilet; full-service sites add electricity, water, and sometimes sewer with washroom buildings close by. Etoile ready-to-camp units and cabins come furnished with beds, a stove, and basic kitchen equipment. Private parks around Lantier lean toward serviced RV sites with hookups, washrooms, and family amenities. Cell coverage is patchy inside the park, roads to interior sectors are gravel in places, and bears are present, so food storage rules are enforced. Dogs are allowed in designated campgrounds and on certain trails, but not throughout the park.
