Parc Omega is a wildlife park spanning 2,200 acres of Quebec forest and houses North American animals including bison, elk, deer, caribou, wolves, bears, and foxes roaming in semi-natural habitats that guests view from their own vehicles along a road network through the property. The 12 km safari trail is the main draw, with carrot feeding for the deer. On-foot activities include hiking trails, a wolf-watching area, and animal presentations, walking trails, picnic areas, restaurants, farm animal visits, and cabins can be rented near the wolf enclosure. In the village, the Château Montebello, the largest log structure ever built, anchors the main street alongside ChocoMotive, Fromagerie Montebello, and the Manoir-Papineau National Historic Site. Parc national de Plaisance provides a trail network for hiking and biking, plus canoeing and kayaking through marshes and bays, with hundreds of bird species observed across the year.

The Montebello camping season tracks the Outaouais climate closely. Most private parks and the SÉPAQ campground operate from late spring through mid-fall. Parc national de Plaisance camping typically runs from late April to late October, with sectors opening on staggered dates depending on the area. The area is busiest from late June to early September, and visitors should book well in advance for Canada Day weekend and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24. Spring brings heavy birding traffic. In spring, Plaisance puts on a performance with thousands of Canada Geese. Come summer, it's a paradise for ducks, herons, ospreys, and dozens of other species. Summer days are warm and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common. Fall colour typically peaks in late September and early October, when nights cool sharply and daytime highs settle into the low teens Celsius. Winter is cold and snowy, with most campgrounds closed, though Parc Omega remains open year-round. During winter, Parc national de Plaisance remains accessible by foot or snowshoe. From mid-October to the end of April, the registration buildings and washrooms are closed and the trails are not groomed. Only the Discovery and Visitors Centre parking lot is open.

Most sites in the area are wooded and relatively level, with a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations. Plaisance offers a range of options including sites without services, water-and-electric sites, group camping, and ready-to-camp accommodations. The park has 176 sites in total, including 53 without services, sites with 1 service (water or electricity), and 85 sites with 2 services (water and electricity), plus tent-only spots and yurts, with hiking trails and a beach nearby. Cell coverage along Route 148 is generally reliable. Black flies and mosquitoes peak from mid-May into July, so plan accordingly. Dog policies at Plaisance restrict pets to designated areas, while guide and service dogs are allowed throughout. Grocery, fuel, and propane services are available in Montebello and Papineauville.
